Just in case anyones wondering what's happening with this project, at the moment I currently have a badly broken (I'd even go as far as to say destroyed) hand. It's in such a bad state that I'm severely limited in anything I can do that involves the use of my right hand (and I'm right handed). All hacking work, and the majority of my computer usage, has taken a severe beating on account of the fact that it hurts like fuck and I only have 2 working fingers and a thumb at the moment. The other 2 fingers are almost completely detatched from the rest of my hand and are only held in place with titanium plates. I want to say thanks for people who have sent me material to use, and the reason you have hardly heard back from me is due to this. I'm not even writing this message, I'm dictating it and my friend is writing it out for me. I will be out of action for about 12 weeks, but any material which will help this project is still more than welcome and will be put to use as soon as I can get full use of my hand back.

Hmmm...

Sorry to hear about that, I hope you get better soon. I'm curious to see how this project will turn out. If I create/encounter anything worth sending, I'll send it to you.

It sucks to hear that... Not much because of this project (which is indeed awesome, mind you), but mainly because I always feel sad when a friend is injuried sad.png
I wish you to get better soon, I don't even want to imagine how painful it is :\
Take your time and recover completely before you attempt to do any hacking work, the usability of your right hand for the rest of your life is more important than a high speed hedgehog.

Old thread is old, but StephenUK, how has your hand been lately? I just stumbled upon this thread and I seriously winced. I bet that would HURT. I hope your hand gets better soon.

Well at the moment, I'm still out of work and still having problems with it. I've been told that I might have to have the titanium plates removed as they're pushing so hard against my skin that it looks like they're about to burst out. Apparantly that's a problem, but I wouldn't know. I might also have to have my pinky rebroken and repositioned, as it has suffered from a fair degree of rotation due to the break, and now keeps folding uncomfortably under my ring finger whenever I make a fist or grab hold of something. I'm due for another assessment on it on Wednesday, and may be forced to return to work, which will no doubt make it a great deal worse. I'm starting to think I might have to claim some kind of disability benefit and stay off work longer, as my company sick pay stops after this week, meaning I won't be able to afford to live.

In short, I'm pretty fucked at the moment.

Aw. We're all missing you. Get well soon!

If it helps, I think you'll get the medium level of disability allowance, which is ~£260 a month. I don't know how that stands with your financial situation, but that's what you should expect to get.

Ouucchhh, go ahead and claim some disability benefit so you can let your hand heal the best it can.

Oh, and please tell me that my post before didn't cause you to type with your bad hand. ouchhhhhhh

Best of luck, by the by.

Well to live, I need a minimum of £120 a week. With company sick pay, I'm on £215 a week at the moment, as opposed to the £300 a week I'm on while working, so it's not a huge loss really considering I'm sat around doing nothing. Statutory Sick Pay last time I checked was somewhere in the region of £70 a week, so that means I'll need at least £50 disability a week on top of that just to survive. I'm just going to have to wait and see what gets said at my assessment. If I do go back to work and they refuse to put me on some form of light duties, I'll probably end up quitting.

Hey Stephen.
First I just wanted to wish you a fast recovery with your hand. That's gotta be making things really difficult for you. I hope you get well soon. :c
The other thing I wanted to say is, this project so far is looking amazing just by the contributions already made into it. I've decided that if this project succeeds, I'm actually going to buy a flash cart for my Sega Genesis just for this game, so I can play it the on the real hardware it deserves to be played on. When Sega announced that the mystery console was the iPhone, I was a bit disappointed. Inside, I was hoping they would release a Genesis version, even though I knew it wouldn't happen. But when I saw this thread, I was really excited to know that someone is actually porting this game to the Genesis. That is just absolutely awesome. :D

Finally, if you were looking for any help on this project at all, I am quite good with graphics, and excellent at music. I would be honored to help you in any way I can. ^^;

That...doesn't sound like a half bad idea.

If anyone is willing or has allot of time on their hands, maybe you can outsource some of your work SUK? Not completely hand over the project mind you (I'm sure no one wants to take on that big of a burden) but small stuff you know.

Just a thought. I'm sure the Retro Community is willing to lend a hand to an injured friend.

Since that worked so well with Sonic 2 HD and whatever the piece of shit Chimpo was working on?

Except that here we'd be talking about him asking for help to other people rather than "lol community project". In the end it's him who has the final say and even asks what to do, while with S2HD you have people arguing about whether something looks good or not in their opinion and get stuck there. Here you wouldn't have to please everybody, just StephenUK =P

Ooooh geez, why do I never see these threads when important issues arise?

Sorry to hear about your hand, How was it damaged if you don't mind me asking? Because it sounds pretty damn serious too. Well I hope it gets better at a sooner rate, I couldn't begin to imagine what it'd be like to not have a functional hand (especially the main working hand), let alone the pain that comes with it.

[. . .] I lost my temper, punched a lamppost, and now I have 2 completely snapped fingers (ring and little fingers) on my right hand, the metacarpels completely snapped in half and currently pushing into the palm of my hand from the inside.

That's what happened.
