How would a group Let's Play work? (Strictly hypothetically speaking of course)

Say we're doing a series of Game Boy games. Something simple to start off. It's like... I've seen some of the development process beforehand, and have an idea of where some of the pieces go, but not the whole picture.

  • How would you theoretically manage to record people commentating on/playing a game live? Aside from the emulator and Skype for group calls? Because I know jack shit about streaming.
  • How would you theoretically manage to record people commentating on a game after the fact? Aside from the emulator to record, Skype for group audio, a copy of the video file uploaded somewhere online and - I'm assuming - Audacity for sound recording?

For anything live, you'd probably need the whole group being able to watch. Perhaps you could use TeamViewer and Skype/TeamSpeak combined to make sure everyone can see?

One other possibility might be to do something in the style of passing on the controller to the next player...
