Sonic Worlds games - framerate issue.

Discussion in 'Fangaming Discussion' started by MaskedMage, Feb 3, 2017.

  1. Hi. I hope I'm writing this in the right place.

Not sure if this issue is in particular version of Sonic Worlds, because Chrono Adventure is unaffected. When I play Axiom, ATS or BTS, it staggers harshly (it reduces to below 20 FPS for one second) every several seconds and discourages me thus to play these games any further. I thought it is not device dependant, as it staggers in walkthrough of Razor & Zenon in YT too, until I saw Redhotsonic's video - 60 FPS intact. Is there any fix or workaround for this problem? I tried in XP and 7, both fullscreen and window mode, changed refresh rates... but it didn't work.

Those are built off older versions of Worlds iirc. Have you checked any fan games made in Worlds Delta?

  3. I'm afraid I haven't tested any of these games yet. Can you give me some examples based on Worlds Delta? Btw, is it possible to import aforementioned games to newer engine?

What is your CPU? Those games are pretty demanding.

  5. Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
    8 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 with... I guess 2 GB VRAM

Is it even possible that this PC, bought almost 3 years ago, may not handle Sonic Worlds games well? I am aware that this engine can be quite demanding, but not to this level.

Those games you listed were made with an older, unoptimized version of Worlds in an older version of Multimedia Fusion 2. Stuff made with Worlds Delta shouldn't have any issues since that engine was built a lot smarter (better garbage collection, less intensive execution time, optimized code), and if it's compiled with the latest version of Fusion 2.5, it gets better performance with the runtime as well.
