I don't think Knuckles would be fast enough to time travel either, not if you want to be 100% faithful to the originals.

Video footage!

I headed to a GameStop near me that had tablets and got some video of Sonic CD. Couldn't do too much filming with 1 hand and playing with the other, but it plays great from what I got.

EDIT: Replaced with HD version.

Thanks, I had a costume maker make it. It's a kick ass hoodie in this cold weather.

I'm not home right now so the footage I uploaded is only SD. I'll have an HD version later tonight.

Is it just me or it looks kind of slow? PAL-ish if you will. :psyduck:

I was just about to comment on that, yeah. It's definitely slower than normal.

Isn't Taxman from the UK? I reckon he'd make it match what he remembers the game to be, or just throw my theory out the window and chalk it up to the tablet itself.

Is the opening anywhere to be found?

If it's there I couldn't get it to go, I went through 2 loops of the title music and nothing happened.

Maybe it plays when you start a new game? It'd be weird if they didn't include the animations, they're practically the main noticeable thing that separates CD from the rest of the series.

In this version, the opening cutscene starts when you begin a new save. This is mainly because for new comers, they might miss it if they don't know to wait on the title screen.

Wasn't like that in the original game. Sorry, this is forever tarnished. I'll never buy this ever.

But yeah that was a smart move, to be honest I didn't even know about the opening cutscene when I bought the PC version in 98 until I actually went into the CD's files a few years later and saw the mpg file. Is it in the original aspect ratio or is it stretched/cropped/the very edges stretched with the center not touched like they do on tbs?

It's the higher frame rate

EDIT: Tax, is the time attack mode included? Specifically the unlockable special stage time attack mode?

Higher than what? The original ran at 60FPS, and I kind of expect this would have, too.

Well, there's a "Time Attack" entry mentioned in the main menu, if you look closely. No idea about the Special Stages, though.

The game should be running as normal (60fps). No PAL or any wackiness like that. Not sure what's going on in the video. Maybe the tablet's doing something in the background? And yep, Time Attack is all there.
