    Look at this.

Number of spines is different, but that's definitely influenced by that iteration of Metal Sonic. Right down to the power gem in the chest and mega buster.

Glad I'm not the only one that made the Penny connection with Hope.

Is it just me or does Snively's design get uglier and uglier with each artist?

As for the secret Freedom Fighters, hard to say since so they've been simplified so much into generic Uekawa models. That does kinda look like the current design for Elias, only with his hair combed back.

...Is that Larry Lynx is the background next to Harvey Who in the SU #41 cover?

Looks like a Lynx and there is no one else I can think of.

  5. I really miss the old design and art from the comics back in the day. Like around issue 30-50 ish or so. I don't know the exact number. But it was good. The comic has been getting better in that regard as of late, though.

At least its better then his "fabio hairstyle with saiyan battle armor" phase. :specialed:

  7. Is it intentional that the cover is basically a complete copy of the Sonic Rivals boxart but with these other characters? the one to the right of Silver is using the exact same pose as Silver on the game cover.

    Of course it is intentional.

  9. Ah alright just checking, I kinda wish I could read these comics but they seem pretty hard to come by over here. I mean I heard about some of the previous issues being really bad, but from the recent sections I've seen they look like a good thing to read.

I got a "place" you can read them at. let me know if your interested (PM).

Unfortunately Sonic Comic World closed his account so the only reliable free source is gone. unless theres someone else out there that was doing the same thing and has all issues up?...

Some interesting things from editor Paul Kaminski:

[quotename='Paul Kaminski'][quotename='Big Al Son']I calculated that after this Secret Freedom arc, there will be only 5 issues then it'll be the milestone 50. I'm not sure about the milestone 50 being the mid-point (part 2 or 3) of a 4-part arc. The milestones tend to always be the end of an arc and the beginning of a new one, or even a big turning point.[/quote]
The big SU#50 is indeed on its way...and the plan cooked up for the big event is going to surprise you guys to say the least. And hey, if the hardcore fans can predict every single move the book makes, where's the fun in that? :D

[quotename='Big Al Son']I do agree that 4-part formula is getting a bit boring now, that Archie should break away from it.[/quote]
Again, changing things up is always a win - stay tuned.

P.S.- there are all kinds of reasons we place these arcs in the order that they appear in, and those broader considerations can sometimes affect the timetable of one arc or another. That doesn't mean all those stories won't get told, and the most important thing I can stress to you guys and gals is that we listen to what you have to say. So hang out for some AWESOME secret agent action - because Ian's got some incredible stuff in store for everyone.[/quote]

Also, from Ian in response to some people discussing Possibly-Larry not looking like Larry:
[quotename='Ian Flynn']RE: It can't be Larry because it doesn't look like him:

Y'all are making a judgement call based on a small thumbnail with the character crammed in the very back, half-obscured by the title, and wearing an obscuring mask/clothes.

He's a squat, banded cat with short, pointed ears. I like to bring back old characters and re-purpose them. That should spell itself out.

Secondary point: compare Sally, Bunnie, Rotor or Antoine's current designs to their appearances during Larry's last major appearance and tell me they all look 100% alike. I dare you.[/quote]

I've missed you Larry, I thought you would show up somewhere during Iron Dominion but you didn't.

A few people at Bumbleking didn't like how how the Preisdent was acting in SU#38's Off-Panel. So, the artist for that issue's Off-Panel (Jon Gray) posted this:
[quotename='Jon "Dub" Gray']I'm sorry that you didn't like the Sonic Universe 38 Off Panel and found it out of character. Instead I crafted up a few alternatives to see if maybe those will whet your whistle. I hope that you like them!

More info from Ian over at Bumbleking, after a lot of arguing from people over whether or not the robot on the SU#41 cover is the original Metal Sonic:
    [quotename='Ian Flynn']I'm divided.

On the one had, I don't want to reveal anything. I want y'all to be surprised, and a seed of doubt does that.

On the other hand, we're fifteen pages in, and some folks seem committed to driving the arguments into the ground or to go out of the way to over-complicate a simple image.

I dunno. Most of you guys had the roster pegged in the first few pages. What do you say, BKC? Should I confirm the roster, or do you want to keep guessing?[/quote]

[quotename='Ian Flynn'][quotename='FrogLenzen']Well, you were already pretty quick to defend the Larry Lynx design...[/quote]
Admittedly. It's been a very hard two-and-a-half months for me, personally, and I got impatient. That's on me. Sorry, folks.

[quotename='Ziggyfin']Ian, what do you think when you first lay eyes on the art? I mean that would be so cool for people to make beautiful visuals for what you write.[/quote]
One of the best perks of the job. It's especially fun when I submit the initial idea, and Ben, Tracy or Steven turns it into something amazing.

[quotename='Matt7325']I'd say to just tell us. Unless their identity is going to be a huge point, it's not really even what I'd consider a spoiler... for example, if the new team only had one of the Wolfpack twins I didn't think it'd be a spoiler to say which one it is. I guess the question you need to consider is whether any of the Archie staff anticipated there'd be confusion over who the Robo Sonic is, or if you'd pretty clearly meant it to be Jules or Metal and we're just completely overanalysing it.

Inevitably, whether it's Jules or Metal Sonic, the more interesting point is not going to be who it is, but how it is that they come to join the team. Speculation for the next four months over how/why Jules is upgraded, or how/why Metal is reborn, is going to be more interesting over endless backwards-and-forwards over who it actually is.[/quote]
No, I never expected folks to jump to Jules, but I can't predict every reaction.

I'll let it lay for now. Most folks have already figured it out, and they can give themselves a pat on the back. Others have picked up on statements I've made and will figure it out from there. Those left over can enjoy the mystery until the issue comes out.[/quote]

Also, some higher-quality versions of the covers (Spoilered due to image sizes) :

So...That HAS to be the original Metal Sonic...somehow. Even though he took a dip in some lava.

None at the moment I'm afraid.
I think I stopped at issue 201... not because I didn't like the comics anymore (I was actually really excited.) I just couldn't go out and get them regularly anymore. It was also getting a little expensive and time consuming to keep up to date.
