I suppose it depends on how you view the mode button. If you're using it as originally intended (i.e. not using it at all - it's only meant to be a workaround for games that can't cope with six-button inputs), putting it in an awkward position where you're not likely to touch it is sensible (not "accurate", since no Sega controllers did that, but sensible).

But of course, mode was treated by many developers as an extra button. So for that, the original shoulder placement is better. And more accurate. But most six-button games didn't use it so bleh.

These mostly look the part but the boxes are off the mark. Seals of Quality in Europe? Someone's not been doing their homework!... ...

Incidentally €45 for a Mega Drive pad with two thumbsticks attached - I wonder what the market is for that.

They just had to fuck up the Mode button, did they. Just WHY.

    Oh yeah, that too.

I was most interested in the Bluetooth controllers, but the added analog sticks are kind of turning me off. Doesn't look like it will be as comfortable anymore.

Having a Saturn controller working on the Mega Drive through Bluetooth would've been kickass. Complete with trigger Mode button.

A shame it's not the case. And also the analog sticks.

    Working on my art!
Are these coming to the states as well? I really want to buy one of them.

Maybe not 100% accurate but I like the ones that were modified to work with modern games too. Something like the analog one would be great for like Mania or even Generations.

Given there's Genesis branding as well I'd expect so.

Disappointed that it looks like the only bluetooth option will be the ones with those added analog sticks. For what I'm wanting this for, I won't need 'em. But like a lot of you, I too am going to need at least every single one of these controllers, regardless.

Man, I'm so over see-through pads, I wish they had just done a solid grey or white saturn pad.

Also, would have preferred a 6-button usb mega drive pad without the extra shoulder buttons too. Gotta keep it authentic. Also unhappy about the analog sticks on the bluetooth controllers, but I don't mind opting for the usb cable option.

    Master System controller when?

Looks like they are offering that, at least. You can take your pick from either 6 or 8 button options for the MD pads.

Since I already have original Mega Drive 6 button pads with USB adapters, I'm curious how do the new ones compare, especially the ones with the shoulder buttons.

I was interested in the Bluetooth pads to replace my original IR wireless controllers for Mega Drive and Saturn, in order to not be reliant on my position relative to the TV, and to not be relying on 20+ year old tech (and hoping that I don't break them), so I'm a bit disappointed with the reveal that the wireless pads don't appear to have a "classic" option.

There's no way I'm going to play modern [style] games on a Mega Drive or Saturn pad with two sticks slapped on the bottom, but the Bluetooth Saturn controller might redeem itself in my estimations if you can use the left analogue stick as an emulated dinner plate.

An official dual stick Dreamcast pad coming out could make some interesting developments in the homebrew scene though.

    These were my expectations exactly.

Sounded too good to be true... and it was. :(

I'm kind of curious about the twin-sticks actually. If they don't interfere with the classic controls, I won't have any reason to complain about them, and it'll be cool to play modern titles with as well. I don't think there are too many other twin-stick six-button pads out there, save for the Duke re-release.

It is a little asinine they don't have a single no-stick Bluetooth option out of the dozen they have on offer, though.

I just can't imagine that the controllers will be as comfortable. Don't those thumbsticks look like they will be in the way to anyone else?

I dunno, seems it'd be comfy and unobtrusive enough from these here pictures. It's like a fusion of the Genesis pad and the kiboshed boomerang PS3 controller, which was apparently way comfier than it looked. Interesting that we're getting four shoulder buttons AND six face buttons, that'll be handy for game-specific macros when using it on Steam. They're clearly not going for authenticity on the bluetooth pads, more of a "what-if" sort of deal and I'm all for it. I've been dreaming of a modern pad with six face buttons for like a decade and to my knowledge no one's tried to deliver on that until now (beyond The Duke, which is... The Duke lmao).

i am going to chokeslam someone if these don't turn out good, seriously

    Trying to be useful somehow.
A MD controller with L and R button, that's exactly why I want so bad a Saturn pad. I mean, it is basically the same but with the extra button (you can take R shoulder as Mode).

Damn it, I really need one of those black USB Saturn pad. Sad that they didn't make solid gray, because that would have been a good option too.

EDIT: that dualstick genesis pad doesn't look too bad, except for the fucking start button at the left. Were UK pads like that o am I missing something? All pads I had had either Start on the middle and Mode on the right shoulder, or Mode and Start at the middle, with Mode being the left one.

I think the TecToy Mega Drive controllers were the only official ones with Mode in the middle.

Thanks for the pictures. It looks obtrusive to me still, but maybe it will feel okay. This has me wondering what they'll do with the dreamcast controllers (if they ever release them). I'm left to assume they'll add another thumbstick to them as well. No idea where they'll put it though.

It looks like the thumb is going to touch the right analog's base when pressing the A button.

I too have been dreaming of a dual analog gamepad with six face buttons. The last one I owned was a Logitech Wingman Rumblepad over a decade ago.

The dual analogs do look pretty crowded in there compared to the SN/SF30 Pro, which takes a similar approach to modernizing a 16-bit era controller. Staying cautiously optimistic though. Please let this be good, I could really use a wireless six button pad!
