Segabits article and details here: http://segabits.com/blog/2018/01/10/retro-bit-sega-usb-and-bluetooth-genesis-saturn-and-dreamcast-accessories-revealed/

So these were shown off at CES 2018 as part of an official collaboration between Sega and Retro-bit and are launching soon. Hence the official Sega branding. Finally, official Sega controllers. Just hope the build quality is decent and the Saturn pads are close to the SLS ones. If so the Genesis and Saturn ones shall be mine.

Between this, Sega Forever and Sonic Mania Sega are making some awesome retro moves lately. They should have done this years ago but better late than never.

EDIT: They're promising that the build quality will be good:

Where's my bluetooth Master System controller? I see retro NES controllers all the time, but where is my 8 directional squishy square and spongey buttons.

Also, Saturn 3D analogue controller when?

There's an S-Video cable for Genesis somehow? To my knowledge it wasn't capable of that natively. I would be curious as to how that looks, if I wasn't on RGB to component already.

The Saturn Bluetooth controllers are modeled after the official IR controllers, which is a neat touch. I may finally retire my SLS controller. Too bad the Genesis ones aren't given the same treatment.

I wonder if the USB/Bluetooth Dreamcast controller will allow viewing of VMU memory on PC. That'd make it easier to get gamesaves, and maybe even some homebrew stuff.

I know 8bitdo are the big name in quality controller replicas, but I haven't heard much about retro-bit. Mixed them up with Retrolink, who I've heard mixed results from people. I hope they can live up to that press release.

Let's be fair those dpads are notorious for falling apart from use, really not worth it.

Seconding the want for a wireless dinnerplate.

Some of these things seem a bit pointless, like Dreamcast power cables? And the VGA box is a rubbish design for 2018, very few TVs have a VGA input and AV just looks pants. A box which uses VGA or RGB (switchable for the games that don't support VGA) delivered via HDMI would be far more practical.

Looking forward to seeing how well the wireless DC controllers with adapters work, the couple of DreamConns that I have are a bit too laggy.

Also they're using this weird name "Genesis" that isn't what the Mega Drive was called. They'll need to fix that before they release in Europe/Japan/places not North America. =P

lol, yeah this is my primary concern too, that this seems very Americanised and American focused with the usage of "Genesis" and all the products carrying very American specific branding. I hope these are coming to Europe at reasonable prices and if the pads are decent as Retro-bit are promising then I'm going to buy them without a second thought.

I've wanted a decent Saturn pad for years since it's probably the best 2D control pad of all-time, so hoping Retro-bit will produce good products here.

Does anyone know if you can use the controllers interchangeably? Ie could I use a Saturn pad on Mega Drive and Dreamcast? Being able to use a Dreamcast controller as a 3D pad on Saturn would be cool too.

They got the official license from Sega of America, so not sure if that allows an extension into European naming and territories

As long as we're talking about regional stuff that may not happen, I'd love if the Japanese white Saturn controller variant was included in this.

I wish they had made a bluetooth receiver that doubled as a multiple tap so you could run multiple controllers of one receiver. And then made all the controllers compatible with all the receivers. And better yet add two analogue sticks to the DC pad, as I'd love to have one controller which worked with everything.

I hate bluetooth shit, but I'm insanely happy for the USB controller. Even the additional power/S-V cables are enough to excite the retro gamer in me. I kind of hope we get more announcements of updated older tech for past consoles. Hopefully these are quality and not some MadCatz garbage.

Always wanted a Saturn controller, and Bluetooth is a good call in my opinion. Anyone have any clue how well those play in fighting games? I primarily use the D-pad on Xbox/Playstation controllers, but those actually hurt your thumb after a bit, clearly not meant for fighters :V Fight sticks look too bulky to just have laying around on a table, as well. Is the Saturn D-pad any better for that type of thing?

Not too interested in the DC or Genesis/MegaDrive controllers, though.

Hopefully they'll do a Dreamcast fightpad down the line.

I already have two Saturn controllers and a USB adapter, so I'm set as it is. Maybe a newer version that's dedicated USB would be better, though, depends, I guess.

I'd honestly be more interested in a Saturn-style pad but with sticks on the bottom and triggers, really, like the new 8bito SNES30 Pro pads. 8bitdo seem to be the only ones experimenting with classic designs like that.

Though if the Dreamcast controller had an integrated screen, that'd be kinda cool.

If the wireless Saturn pads are solid I'll definitely be picking a pair up. Need a good all-around solution for 2D emulating so I'm hoping they fit the bill.

This just in: Looks like all flavours of Saturn controller are available.

(Well... apart from the original Western controller, but who on Earth would want that?)

Any game that requires constant repetitive motions is going to make those parts of your hands sore. PS4 controller is fantastic for Tekken and I still love my PS1 controller for playing arcade games on MAME. The Saturn controller is great for Street Fighter but it at the end of the day it really depends what works best for you TBH.

I like how I bought a new official dreamcast controller right before this was announced. I'm probably going to buy some of the bluetooth controllers honestly. I love wireless controller so much.
