Even the official JP site looks similar to the P4 site. The italian trailer (not the UK one however) actually says straight up that it's set in the Persona universe. Spoiler I like Persona more, so I'm fine with the change

You know what? I'll bite. I first heard of Persona back in 2011/12 time and I haven't really done much research in to detail and I'm definitely not starting collection up but I suppose I should look in to it or watch some LP's of it. In your own words, folks. What is great about it, should I invest my time to it and is there things I should know/order to watch?
Well, you can ignore Persona 1 and 2. Not that they're bad games, but they're pretty different from what Persona is now. Each main Persona game is stand-alone, you don't need to have played one for the other to make sense. Persona 3 and 4 do take place in the same world, but all of the characters and locations are different. The only real connections are some cameos, specifically during one segment in the game's latter half. However, most of Persona 4's spin-off games aside from Dancing All Night feature Persona 3 characters and story spoilers, so it is better to have played the game before playing those. Also, the main games are pretty long. It takes about 70 hours to finish one of them. As for which game you should play or watch: Persona 3 is serious with some light heartedness and Persona 4 is light heartedness with some seriousness. If you're going to watch an LP instead of playing it yourself, Giant Bomb's Endurance Run of Persona 4 is great. Oh, and there's also a game called Catherine that you should maybe check out. It's by the same team and pretty good.
So we'll get more news on Persona 5 in a couple of days, Atlus already started the stream but most of it will be trolling/random bullshit. It's been delayed to Summer 2016. There's also a developer interview where director Katsura Hashino talks about the delay. No complaints here. Gives me time to actually buy a PS3.
Gamespot's review kinda has me concerned about the game. It seems to confirm a couple of my fears of the game: And whatever you might think about Gamespot doesn't really apply here, the writer's freelance and seems to know what she's talking about. You might even already be familiar with her. :v:
So Persona 4: Dancing All Night is out now. I have a separate Vita memory card so I used that to buy it on my US PSN account. It sure plays like a game developed by a studio that never made a rhythm game before. I don't have too much trouble keeping track of the notes like the Gamespot reviewer has (though I can easily see people having trouble with it), but she's definitely right about the notes on the screen not matching up with the song. Can still be fun to play, but usually only after a bunch of trial and error. Lots of great fanservice though. EDIT: Oh, and the way it decides if you cleared a song or not is kinda shitty, at least on hard mode. Basically, you need to keep the audience happy while playing, and if they don't cheer enough near the end you won't clear it. They'll cheer less if you miss notes, and cheer more if you do well. Meaning that if you miss a couple of notes near the end you can lose no matter how well you did before, cause there's no chance for you to recover. For example: Even though I only missed 4 notes out of 575. :|
I grabbed the OST leak not too long ago. Honestly, most of the remixes in this game blow. The only ones that really stood out were both done by Atlus Kozuka and they're just remixes of both P4 intro themes.
Speaking of Hard Mode, yes it's not exactly something I'd call an actual fun challenge. A miss basically means you lose (though it doesn't toss you out). Easy and Normal work just fine, though I found that using headphones is the best idea because though it seems like there are random notes, they're just tied to a backbeat that really just does not come through on speakers. I'll say that I could not get a KING CRAZY rank in any song, even on easy mode, unless I used headphones to hear the music that's muffled out by handheld speaker quality. That seems like a general issue with rhythm games on handhelds, but really all that means is they probably just should not have designed it that way. As for the way the game does clears, there are 3 failure states (only one of which that outright fails you when it's reached) while only 2 clear ones, it's kind of ridiculous; it's basically do really good or you're not going to clear the stage (which is probably why Hard just doesn't work). In fact there's only 3 rankings, while most rhythm games have a letter grade or star system this just has Cleared(Good), Brilliant (Great), and KING CRAZY (Amazing). In other words, just B, A, and S. Anything under that is treated as an F. Japanese audio but with English subtitles explains this, but what it doesn't explain is that a miss will instantly drop the hype gauge by at least one increment, and it takes quite a stellar performance (otherwise) to recover what you lost. As for the Fever time Teddie mentions, it doesn't really seem to affect the audience hype level despite Teddie making a big deal of, what it generally just does is have a second character come on stage and dance with the main one for a bit. Still, it's a game I enjoy as long as I stay the hell away from Hard and All Night mode, and hell, it even actually has a pretty decent story that really fits with the theme P4 had. Edit: Also this is just an aside but.
I don't have it yet, but I'm sure my dumb un-dexterious fingers will agree. Do those modes have anything amazing locked behind them? Oh and the Disco fever edition seems to be popping up now for UK/europe sites (Game, Amazon etc), with only a month left, I was getting a little concerned we weren't gonna get it.
No the difficulty modes don't have any unlocks hidden behind them as far as I know, all songs are unlocked just by clearing a certain number in Free Dance on any difficulty, and one is purchasable from the in-game store for 5,000 P$ once you clear the story.
Well, there is one unlock: the partner who'll appear during the song in fever mode. Each difficulty mode has a couple of different partners that can appear per difficulty. So the only way to unlock them all on each song is by clearing them on each difficulty a couple of times.
