Long after
this topic where I asked for, and received, confirmation that Sonic Adventure DX (US PC boxed version) is real... I've now discovered a scan of its box's back.

This rarely-seen image doesn't appear to be yet shown on places like the Sonic Retro wiki.
Is my find authentic, or did I err somewhere? After all I happened upon it when searching ebay. Which isn't exactly known as reliable.

Was the ever any doubt on the existence of a US Boxed release? I remember finding a copy at a Toys R Us with my friend. There was only one left, so my friend and I proceeded to fight over it...he won, but he burned me a copy.
From my memory, this scan seems right. (Although the last time I saw the box was probably about 10 years ago)

At what point did Activision have to do with DXPC?

We aren't really sure. Perhaps some distribution deal. I can't think of many links between Sega and Activision. Other than how Rome Total War publishing changed hands.
I was just following up on my old topic with a discovery it didn't mention. Doubt on the existence mainly came from how there were more fleeting glimpses than hard proof.
DXPC might've been limited release. Where stores in certain parts of the country received few to no copies. If I were to guess, I'd say it wasn't the last time Sega did that.
I can't remember seeing a definitely sealed copy of Infinite Space at physical stores. Though to be fair I probably didn't look very close at whatever few copies I saw at all.

In the last topic I scanned my discs and someone posted a picture of the front of the box, and you're just now convinced that it's real?

No. I said in this very opening post, how back then I was given proof it's real. The back of the box is new information the last topic didn't bring up in detail.
My fault for the thought never even surfacing in my mind until over a year later.

What the post is about is to show the boxart on the back and confirming it's real and not a fake, not that the game doesn't exist
Good find, that's some cool back cover.

Yeah I have a bad tendency to consider the strange parts of an idea first. Entirely overlooking "obvious" elements that baffle me how I failed to notice them, once pointed out.

It will be somethign to do with distribution/publishing...
...similar to how Activision were involved with some versions of the SEGA Smash Packs I think.

And similar to how Atari were something to do with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. Just distribution and such, nothing to do with the game content.

How did we not have this before? Hell, I could have scanned it in.

There's much I don't know about the game's US fate. Sales numbers might help us. I'd be surprised if it sold more than a few thousand. IIRC the boxed PC game market has been weaker in America for years.

This is some kind of treasure now? Hell I could have scanned it (poorly) anytime I wanted to, but no one seemed to care

Scarcity is about the only reason to care. As far as we're aware, it offers no game benefit over a far more numerous Europe copy.
I very much doubt comparing the US and PAL disc file contents will turn up anything. But who knows unless we try.
