It's perfectly possible someone will eventually come up with the same project, except in an usable form; but it pisses me off the wheel has to be reinvented all the time.

Well, also consider the fact that it isn't done--even if Stealth WERE to consider releasing the source at some point in time, it would be after everything is complete. And, based on the fact that all his work has only led him to converting one level so far, it obviously must not be a straightforward process. If you give it time, favorable results may arise from this after all.

I think people are just eager to start work on Sega CD hacks. If someone else has managed to make one, they all want to know how.
A lot of people can follow by example, but it takes a lot of work to figure something out for yourself.

I'd just like to note that one of the dumbest things for a new member to do is come around and hurl insults at a talented oldbie, especially if the entire reason for the insults is because they accomplished something.

The fruits of somebody's labor are that person's, to do with as that person pleases. Yeah, sharing work is a nice thing for people to do, especially in a hacking community, but he did the work, he put the time and effort into it, and that makes it his work to do with as he pleases. It is not the community's work, the community does not have any right to demand information from him simply because he is (or was) a member. End of story.

    ...
    o it's drx, hai drx.

Eh, I guess I'm a bit late, but I'm the only one who actually read some sarcasm in those lines? Way too wrong to be serious.

And I'll up the sarcasm level just a tad:

I'm removing that from the guides anyway.
OnTopic: It would be nice to see more done with, or even like this, wether or not the source code will be released.

Who knows, Stealth could still be working on this. I mean, I don't think he ever said he stopped. Just because he hasn't posted about it shouldn't make us assume that it's dead.

(or maybe that's just my wishful thinking...)

  16. I thought it WAS posted that he wasn't going to work on it anymore, and I thought it was a dead project.
