Afternoon. There's a few Sonic cartoons, and the wiki documents some of the home releases, but they're mostly US/UK-centric. I was going to try and rectify this but... I barely know anything about any of these shows, and the boxes... aren't helpful. So here's your chance to shine - identify: Brazil (VHS) https://i.imgur.com/HrotCPa.jpg https://i.imgur.com/aJVJQhG.jpg https://i.imgur.com/XPJfb5J.jpg https://i.imgur.com/DtUw7SQ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7yjm2VJ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lx6Xb3V.jpg Brazil (DVD) https://i.imgur.com/jEvRDLY.png Czech Republic (DVD) https://i.imgur.com/Sh0qwtK.jpg Portugal (VHS) https://i.imgur.com/EtcJJct.jpg Portugal (DVD) https://i.imgur.com/yMjr0kD.jpg https://i.imgur.com/68MdSF8.jpg Not shown: the many translations of Sonic X... and most things really Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog/Home releases Sonic the Hedgehog (TV series)/Home releases Sonic Underground/Home releases Sonic X/Home releases Sonic Boom (TV series)/Home releases You guys are better placed to finish this job than I am.
I guess the one from the left and that one from the right are episodes of the "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" released in VHS after the show was aired in Portugal on RTP 1 (Portuguese Channel)... the one at the center is just the Portuguese version of the US VHS Cassette "Sonic Christmas Blast" , which is a Christmas special, of the same tv show http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Sonic_Christmas_Blast by DiC Entertainment... they had the best cartoons of the 90's in my opinion... the DVDs look like, a re-release of the same show (and respective specials) ... I'm not sure... but I will ask in a Portuguese forum, where I'm a member... there's many collectors there and they might know something about it...
It would be an awesome coincidence if it was this episode of AoSTH: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBR9tgTM0bI
Unfortunately that's not it. It's SatAM and includes episodes "Harmonic Sonic" and "Sonic's Nightmare." Considering that's volume 5, it seems that each VHS tape released in China contained 2-3 episodes. I don't know why I know these things.
This is currently the worst officially licensed Sonic DVD I've come across: Despite the name, this is SatAM on DVD in Brazil. I can't confirm more than three volumes were made, so that's a whole six episodes in total. Marvel at the mix of video game artwork, characters that post-date the show by many years, and vague description about how Sonic turned up in games and magazines and educational material. There's an old video on Cinemassacre about how they messed up the DVD releases of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - this one. As far as I can tell, they pulled the same sorts of stunts on the DiC Sonic cartoons.
All jokes aside, I actually like that cover. Which I guess is even more insidious. Anyways, for more home video releases of Sonic shows, I'd like to submit scans of the official Taiwanese Sonic X VCDs on the page sometime next week. There's not much info or pics of them that I could find online, not in English anyway. There's 39 discs in total, each containing 2 episodes, but you can see that a lot of them reuse the same artwork and the only thing different is the volume number. So I'm not sure if I should scan all of them or just the ones that have a unique artwork, which would probably make for only 8 scans. On a side note, apparently these VCDs were also available to buy in box set form, and it seems that there were 10 boxes in total (best pic I could find). Check out that background from Sonic Heroes on box 1.
SatAM in Argentina. Maybe I can't see for looking, but it doesn't look as if it mentions which episodes are included. Well done lads.
Since they have volume numbers on them you scan them all. How to go about getting optimal scans so we never need others is a question for someone else though.
These came included in a cartoon supplement of the "Caras" magazine (Argentina), called "Caras Cartoon"... they weren't sold separately ... curiously... we have a magazine with the same name in Portugal, with the same logo ... i don't even know if they are related with each other... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caras_(magazine) ... and you're right ... it does not mentions which episodes it contains... Edit: 3 episodes per cassette... according with the video description... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88U1Am6IQaU
