I don't think "competition" between games is such a worry that there'd be a significant gap between the two releases, personally.
No, but I doubt Sega is going to let the person who wins the contest get to play the final game 3 months early. It should be a September release.
Well, there's Colours Wii, Colours DS, Free Riders and Sonic 4. Considering that people will need to buy Kinect in order to use FR they will want to space things out a bit. If it was just Colours Wii and S4 it would probably be a different situation.
Also Jimmy, do we know when the trip to Japan is supposed to be? Cause if it's August that people get play the final version of the game then it should be out September. But if it's in Sept or Oct then the game could come later.
I believe it said something about August when I checked. I can't remember if it gave a solid date, I think it might have just said you had to take it before July 2011.
Okay, cool. lol at the idea of July 2011. That would be one hell of a delay.
If it was purely optional when the trip was taken, I would would actually wait until then so I would get to check out the newer game they were working on that I might actually care about.
Doesn't seem like they've given much development time if they delayed the game only a couple of months. But maybe there isn't much you could do to a downloadable game.
They're all downloadable titles. They're all doing a lot more than measly Sonic 4.
I never said it did. I just don't get it. Doesn't surprise me though. Two of those are shooters(?) and one's a racing game based on an old PS1 game (I think) so obviously they'll do better than a NextGen game that thinks it's a Genesis game while posing as a watered-down GBA game.

I think he was replying to this part of your post specifically,

I think "but maybe there isn't much you could do to a downloadable game that's on XBLA, PSN, and WiiWare" would have been a more appropriate thing to say.

Project:I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.

Exactly how big do you suppose a game could get in terms of level size when you're stuck with a Wii's harddrive, with those graphics? Not that I'm saying Sonic 4 is all that it can be, I'm just saying, realistically. How many megabytes are we talking, here?
That the game is also a WiiWare title, is really the only thing dragging it down as far as that statement goes. I thought we settled that point ages ago—that the Wii's space limit was probably a factor in the whole "episodic" thing?
