well here's the UK version of it - identical pic to the US But never mind now [wasn't sure whether to edit the previous post, or post it in a new reply] Tadashi, that's still Sonic CD anyway, *not* Sonic 2 Can anyone find the Japanese front cover? - now I'm interested in what it looks like

He's not on the Japanese cover, but in the manual: http://info.sonicretro.org/images/0/02/Son...anual_08_09.gif EDIT: Also on the CHARACTOR page: http://info.sonicretro.org/Image:Sonic2_jp_manual_44_45.gif Also go Sonic 1 and Sonic CD for having the Japanese Sonic design on the European covers.

It really isn't. Had they been kept blue they'd glow bright yellow when Sonic turned into Super Sonic. Same thing for Sonic 3 (even though there Eggman's head glows when you're Super Tails).
Some fixes and some more shades. Please do elaborate more if something is "wrong" on it. I did this on ICEKNIGHT's request (and for my personal curiosity), I will now move on Sonic basic movement's frames. About TAXMAN's help, I'd be really happy to cooperate. - Please help me summarize all Sonic 2 frames (not including rotated ones).
Great work Vince. It might be interesting to have a version of that sprite with black glasses to see what he would look like.

For Sonic 1: For Sonic 2: Basically, I did the following: -Changed his head shape a little to make Robotnik's general shape look more like an egg (making his front a bit more flat, etc). -Changed the position of his glasses, and made them a bit less round, according to the used perspective and the way they look in-game. -Made his nose a little bigger and wider, so it would fit in the same position than in the games. -Made the top and lower parts of his left mustache a bit bigger, and changed the shape a little. -Changed the shapes of the right parts of his mustache, to make it look more symmetrical -Added the missing lower part of the mustache. -Added the mustache's lights and shades according to each game. -Changed the shape for the visible parts of his yellow cap, fixing their perspective and making them look more like in the games. -Changed a few shades and shapes from his arm and side, according to the game's look. -Changed his right hand's position (or removed it), according to each game. -Made the buttons in his trousers a bit rounder. -Added a few bright in his shoe and left leg, also to add perspective and make it more like in the games. -Changed his right leg's shape a little. -Changed his right shoe's shape, as it looked a little odd. And I think that was it. Again, if you want the bigger versions I can post them as well. EDIT: Yes, the Sonic 2 version doesn't look as good, but the original was also removed many shadows from the mustache, which made it look different.

Do we actually *have* an in-game Sonic 2 screenshot of Eggman anywhere? [been a long time since I played all the way through Sonic 2} I'm interested to see a comparison - since the first time it's been done without seeing the reference screenshot to it first.
BTW, what's the news on the software? I've talked to some people who have claimed it's impossible to get round palette limitations on a MD. Like, really, what are you gonna do about Supersonic? Even if you plan on making different versions of tiles for each palette, it's impossible to implement Supersonic - he flashes RANDOMLY, on any frame. What do you think? At any rate, this work won't go in vain. It can be easily implemented in any homebrew Sonic game.
I don't know... Both Eggmen just felt a bit different between both games. It was even a bit more off-model in Sonic 1 (at least when looking at his more ellaborate mustache), as if they still hadn't established his final official appearance... Which reminds me of his old end-of-level signpost without yellow thingies, and the small icons with blue overalls. I'm thinking we should set these differences between games, also changing Sonic's palette for Sonic 1, etc.
Same thing with Sonic himself, in Sonic 1 he was alot less shiny, had larger feet, and many other notable changes that were different in Sonic 1.
