This seems interesting, and I don't believe it's been mentioned yet: Someone (Skyth) has made a CSB tool that lets you do cool stuff like this:

    So that's neat.

I guess that's neat... not that we really need more ways to properly emulate the bad voice direction of Unleashed, though. :v:

Well obviously it has applications beyond the resurrection of our lord and saviour, Jason :v:
I'm sure someone can think of a neat use for the ability to control sound effect probabilities. I doubt it's of much use in regards to UP, though ¯\_(?)_/¯

    "WOOOO!! FEELIN GOOD!!"

I hated Sonic's constant shouting in Unleashed. But yes, it's great that this new tool has been made! Someone will probably make something interesting with its help.

    Holy bajeezus, N69 found this:

EDIT: I just tried it, it's literally fully functional, omgomgomgomg

No shit. I always wondered why they disabled that feature. It didn't really add too much but at the same time it was a harmless addition. Very cool though.

I wonder if there's any leftovers of crawling in the game. IIRC, Classic Sonic could actually crawl in 3D back in demo 1 as they hadn't removed that feature completely yet. I can't find any video proof of that atm though.

According to N69's responses in the comments, the crawl is fully removed in the final game. It's so weird that they felt the need to remove that and replace it with the slowest slide ever.

I bet they wanted to try and simplify the moveset a little more in order to help acclimate new players and those that haven't played a Sonic game in forever.

Man remember when Sonic was able to charge up a bit from a crouch to roll at a faster speed? It'd make having to get under narrow spaces so much easier than crawling or magical sliding. What was that called again?

    :v:

    Huge secret ;)
I always wandered were that move went in Sonic Generations, I didn't think it would still be intact in the games code. This is a really amazing find!

I'm not surprised it's still in there, but it serves no function in Generations. In Unleashed it assisted players in destroying objectphysics in the hubs since other moves were throttled. The crawl, on the other hand, might've still been useful for the occasional "Whoops I didn't see that gap coming and now it's going to take 6 years to slide to the other side"

Well the spinning kick helped in the Air chaser sections like in empire city for example or Jungle Joyride the little enemies that would drain your rings. You'd just do the spin kick to get rid of them easily. And with the air chaser segments the electric stuff as well. Wish they never took the crawling out though. Yet if anything Sonic Colors has all those animations from Unleashed still leftover. But Generations has a lesser amount from Unleashed leftover. So might have more Unleashed leftovers in Colors possibly.

Those are enemies/functions that don't exist in Generations though, so my point stands. :v:

Honestly I appreciate the degree to which they trimmed Unleashed's (immense) fat, though keeping the crawl would've still been nice.

Probably already known by most of you, but for the longest time it has been bothering the hell out of me as to why I think the Generations version of Sonic's model looks kind of different, after loving the Unleashed model. I decided to use that hallway in the Eggmanland hub (from the Generations mod) to get a close-up of both models and compare them.

Three noticeable changes to Sonic's model:
    - Unleashed Sonic's legs are shorter than Gens Sonic's. It's most obvious if you look at where Sonic's hands are in comparison to his leg; in his Gens model his fingers don't even go past his legs, but in the Unleashed model his fingers extend in length to his socks.
    - Sonic's mouth is in a slightly different position, and Generations has that weird lipstick effect on his mouth
    - I can't tell if it's just because of the angle I took the Gens picture in, but it looks like Gen Sonic's stomach is slightly slimmer than his Unleashed one

I know it's such a minor comparison, but it's taken me forever to finally see a proper direct comparison between the two models, because for some reason I always felt that the Unleashed model looked way better than the Generations one.

EDIT: Hey, now I'm a member! Awesome! Now I can fix my broken link lol

Hello everyone! Is it possible to get Sonic's boost mesh from Generations? I have searched in the extracted Sonic.AR.00 file and I haven't found it. Does anybody know the filename? I need it for the Sonic UE4 Project I'm working on, thanks in advance! (I have searched this topic and I haven't found anyone ask this.)

After a long time of fighting how this game handles things, we finally have Aquarium Park available:

  16. Pretty solid release! I'm not a big fan of the level design and flow of Sonic Colors, but you did a really great job bringing that to this engine. Thank you!

  17. I've been playing around with Dolphin's free-look camera for a bit in Sonic Colors, moving the camera to make the game have a first-person view. It's a ton of fun to play it that way, but whenever the camera gets moved by the game, it screws things up and I have to readjust everything.

I checked YouTube to see if there was a first-person mod for Generations, but the only thing that I found was somebody claiming that they had done it when all they had done was make Sonic invisible.

Is there a mod that does this, and sets the camera either on Sonic or right in front of his head? I could have sworn that I had seen somebody do this before, but like I said, I haven't been able to find it.

A while ago Dario posted a video of time trial replay stuff where he had the camera positioned from first person, but that was in SonicGLvl, not the game itself. Still, might be what you're thinking of.

I hope this isn't against the rules - since the links on the OP no longer appear to be valid, does anyone have a collection of the 3D models within generations in the .model format (and any animations) - the only ones I have found are in .DAE format which don't seem to want to play ball properly with 3DS Max (they have broken skinning and the textures don't import correctly).
