Does anybody know anything about the formats used in Sonic CD PC? Specifically the MAP and CMP files.
So far, I have determined that the MAP files contain tile data, and that changing byte 0 in T11A.MAP to 1 makes the blank 16x16 tiles have a piece of grass in the upper left corner.

As for the CMP files, I believe these are the image data, and they start with SPRTX.

Also, I know SonED supports it, but it won't work on the patched version.

Well it seems you already know about them. And if Soned2 doesn't support them, then DL an older version that does support them.

I just made some observations, I don't know exactly how they work. And if I wanted to use SonED (1), I would have to switch to an older version of Windows.

I had a very modest success. I don't think I ever actually successfully edited anything (not sure I even tried), but I did get the various level data to load.

Sonic HackingWiz Pro has some functionality for SCD PC, I believe.

OEM version of Sonic CD

I believe this is undumped! The only one that people have access to is the DirectX version. If you can, please make and post an ISO!

I think it is too. The compression library used for the DirectX version is broken past Windows 98, and cannot be brought into newer versions. The Dino version, I think is actually just the engine raw ported to Dino libraries, because Windows 3.1 contained NO compression support. Which means the data should be easier to manipulate into a newer engine.

The ones with .CM_ extension are the original LZ compressed files, and the .cmp files are after decompressing with EXPAND.EXE (Windows system program).

Tidbit, you are not a moderator and it is very clear you have no idea what you're talking about in regards to this topic. If you're incapable of contributing towards a topic properly, then please don't reply. You're just clogging up the thread.

Well, I know that, I'm wondering why.

Because as far as I can tell, that's the only useful thing that could possibly result from this thread. I'm at a dead end.

I split it because it wasn't relevant to the hacking aspect of the thread. If you somehow think it is, I don't mind moving them back.
