Looks like iDevices owners can get a port of Crazy Taxi, presumably with the original soundtrack this month. Their next move should be to patch the original soundtrack into the other digital ports of Crazy Taxi.
But will they have the Original Levi's® Store??? The XBLA/PSN port from a couple of years ago isn't just hindered by the lack of licensed music, but because so many of the venues are changed, the "Take me to xxx" or "I need to go to yyy" samples were cut. It's a much less crazy experience. The HUD also gets stretched in widescreen mode. Lots of things to fix, really.
Er... that was the shortest trailer I've ever seen. Actually this seems like a great release given how the Taxis control... I could see this being decent with the tilt controls and what not.
The video is apparently unlisted now? Shouldn't affect viewing in the thread at least. Since the upload date was on the 5th, I'm assuming this was either accidentally made public, or made public to gauge interest for whatever inane reason SEGA would have.
Nope, it's still on SEGA's blog. If they didn't want people to see it they would have made the video private.
So hey there's this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=yXPHa_Rpbxo soundtrack is back, but the locations are not... good enough
I love Crazy Taxi, so I should be excited, but...I already own the Gamecube version, and I can even go to the local movie theater and play the arcade version.
...Interesting. I still think the Dreamcast version is the best port, though. A local arcade USED to have a row of machines, but they either got rid of them or put them away. That was months ago, and I'm still shocked.
As long as this controls well enough, I'm all for this. You have no idea how + - CRAZY hyped I am for this.
It seems funny that people are clamoring for in-game advertisements to return. I know what people are getting at, but it's still funny. That said, this looks like a pretty quality port, considering the platform. From the video posted above the controls don't look too horrible, for a touchscreen. If only there was an android version, then I'd pick it up. For now, I'll just stick with my super awesome Dreamcast version. Ask 'em if they still have the machines. They may bring one back out if you (and probably some friends) ask for their return. If you've got a lot of income, you could even see if they'd be willing to sell. (Though I bet you don't have the funds for it). I wish I owned a Crazy Taxi machine.
Crazy Taxi is available now in a few places. It's still not available in the US though. EDIT: WRONG. It is available in the US, but you must search for Sega in iTunes and look at their section of the App store. Currently searching for Crazy Taxi has no results (or it does but they aren't crazy taxi). It costs $4.99
They seriously announced a port with a ten second trailer three days before it came out? And it wasn't an accident? Let's take bets on why this port doesn't sell even remotely well if SEGA doesn't have anything up their sleeves with this.
I guess the whole thing with the other ports being known for months before they released set a precedent in my mind. I don't follow the iOS stuff so it just seemed incredibly sudden to me. My post looks silly now.
Most iOS and Android games get released to no fanfare at all. But if we're honest... there's not really any need to advertise things like this months in advance. It's not like the kids need to save up their pocket money. Take for example, that GTA V trailer. Good to know that game exists (I guess) but it's a long way from being released. Bit pointless.
So I downloaded it, and it seems pretty faithful. I've cleared almost all of Crazy Box save the final mission, although for some reason it seems... easier. The controls though honestly are not that bad. If you have $5 to blow and are looking for Crazy Taxi, this is probably you're best bet since the GC one costs more and the Xbox one is horrible. You can also turn the music off and keep the sound effects on, making a very easy custom soundtrack. City Escape over the game is kinda lol.
