Sites are all coming back up! We're on the new server you all helped us fund after the old one started to fail after over 6 years of service. Good life for heavily used consumer-grade kit! We're on a new server running (mostly) server grade components and on considerably more modern components (to fit our budget) Tech specs: Supermicro X10SAE (LGA1150) platform Intel Xeon 1231-V3 (3.4 GHz 4 cores/8 threads) CPU 32GB Crucial (4x 8GB) 1600 MHz ECC (unreg) RAM 2 240GB Mushkin SSDs in RAID1 for the operating system and SQL database disk storage 2 1TB WDC RE4 Enterprise hard drives in RAID1 for all the files 4TB Buffalo external drive for backups over USB 3 It's good to be back after pretty much a few days of work between Scarred Sun and I, Consider this a bug reports thread as we will probably need to tweak things, expect minor downtime over the next few days while I get everything straightened out. The wikis are pretty broken. We're only looking for reports of major functionality issues with them. white screens, upload failures etc
I went on the Wiki for the first time in forever and went to change my listed Email address, but I get the error "Unknown error in PHP's mail() function." -Edit- Also, the skins for the wiki seem to be broken as well. Rusted2 especially.
The wiki skins have been broken for a while now. EDIT- Also on the wiki the "On the forums" section is broken. This is what it displays: On The Forums <ipbwiki_topiclist forumids="7,1,92,13,94,33" />
The old server is rusty metal with worn out, dusty, moldy, and burnt out parts soon to be recycled into newer parts for somebody else. The new one is shiny metal and brand new shiny parts that all of Retro will be using remotely. :specialed: Anyway, happy it's back!!! I think it was almost a whole week it seemed.
The Wiki is one big headache we plan to tackle next. The best you can do right now is help us out by trying to remove any leftover javascript coding you find on the pages or omnis. The forums as well will be getting a much needed bit of loving too, but more on that later. Also, as per a request for a donation transparency from one particular donor, the $10 given to us by one Mr. (Mister) Lange (Lan-juh) were used to cover shipping costs and paying Hobo Joe (our resident delivery guy) to run barefooted to the DC to deliver our components. Your gracious contribution helped feed Joe the 10 dollar menu items he needed to function.
Comments posted in front-page articles that were created before the redesign, e.g. Early Sonic 1 Prototype Screenshots Found, aren't showing up. The comments are listed in the "Recent Comments" widget, though.
Thanks Gene, although I don't remember ever requesting transparency lol. Glad I could feed your resident bum. My name is pronounced like "sang" or "dang". Though I assume you were kiddin.
I heard it was another name for a living room. For once the wikis came out better than when they went in. Still a lot of underlying problems but uploads and thumbnails work!
Yay! Im glad retro is back up, it felt empty without it this past week ( yeah, even if I don't post much, lurking retro is part of my daily routine, that much that I feel strange if I don't lurk it for a week)
I would have chipped in myself if I could have, that's some snazzy sounding hardware! Color me amazed by how fast you guys got Retro back up so soon, I was expecting part of my Internet lurking routine to be off-balance for a couple of weeks. The place-holder page was amusing during the downtime, I don't think anybody's mentioned that.
Do you still have the old server? I'm looking for a cheap Mini 1U PSU of about 450-500W and was just wondering if you had one I could salvage from the old one?
