Weird, because my chaotix rom was of smd format (still named chaotix.32x though) when I downloaded it, and I had to convert it to binary format. All Rika had to do was rename hers, meaning her rom was already binary format, so I guess not all .32x files are smd format. Well, I guess some of you guys don't have to convert if your rom is already in binary format like Rika's.
You sure can. Just double click the color you want to change and enter in a new color in the format: 00BBGGRR
I loev you maaaan. <3 edit: .bin is too broad a format, .gen and .32x are just as practical as .nes and .gba. It would suck balls having every ROM for every system be officially recognized as .bin., even though that's what they really are. Rename .32x to .bin. Not .smd; your emulator will still play it, but it's not SMD format. edit2: o ya u can get teh romz on sonar lolz
Hey Guys, I've added the ability to import bmp images. You can crop whatever you want from the bmp image and replace it with the sprite you're currently editing. So I open a crackers sprite sheet with it, crop out one of the sprites, and then save changes. I'm not quite finished yet, but this is what I've accomplished:
After reading the replies, that's what I did. With ROMs from SonAR! </blatantplug> Anywho, it's nice to see the preliminary bitmap support =)
why not just type in *.32x into the load file window (and press OK or enter)? It'll display the .32x files and you can open them straight away without renaming.
It's only a matter of time before we get the next Holy Grail of Sonic Hacking: Sonic (and Tails) in Chaotix. :D EDIT: If anyone has a complete sprite sheet of all of Sonic's sprites from Crackers (upside down and all without the ring holding hands) I'd greatly appreciate it if they'd post it.
Sonic from crackers, without arms. Tails without arms Arms, in case you're interested. They are a bit crappy, but that was only a 5 seconds search. I probably could've found something better had I taken the time. EDIT: If you want the upside down sprites, just flip them in mspaint.
Those are missing sprites. Particularly the 45 and 90 degree walking/running sprites. Does Sonic really have so few sprites in that game?
Yes, sadly. I'm helping with the port as well, and, as we speak, I'm upgrading the shading on Sonic to 16 colors, making him have the "chaotix style". Sonic should be done in a couple days. As for anyone who says "PORT TEH TAILZ!!"... They need to be slapped. A good idea, indeed, but there is no code for Tails', well, tails. While porting his body is obviously fully possible, his tails would not be, if you wanted to have Tails, his tails would not be animated in a standing position, but they could be when he walked. So, for now, I'm too lazy to do that, I'm not sure there's space anyways in the tiles, I mean, the tails on Tails extend his sprite a lot, so I'm not sure.
Adding file filters to the Load/Save As dialogs takes only a few seconds. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to see both .bin and .32x files right off the bat.
Hey guys, I updated the program with a lot more cool stuff. Look at the first post for more. I would also appreciate some mirrors because rapidshare is crap.
Thanks Rika. Except I just added a slight little change. I said you could view more frames of characters, but in the version rika mirrored, you can't. In this one you can: http://rapidshare.de/files/27130527/CHAOXED.rar.html With more sprites viewable, I was able to look at all the frames for each character. And look what I found: OMG GUYS ITS WECHIDNA!! No, Just Kidding. It looks like a beta leftover. It seems the exact same as knuckles' very first frame except that it used a different palette and that his arm is actually attached rather than a seperate sprite.
