You know, depending on the quality of the port and other factors, you might consider getting it just to be supportive.
"Good effort SEGA, but this isn't what I want. Nonetheless, take my money!" Did I get you right, DW? If I did, I really don't agree. I've said it elsewhere, but I couldn't care any less about how much quality a game has if I don't want it. If the soundtrack of the game puts me off to the point where I don't want it, so be it. Now in this case, I just don't like Sonic CD. But if I did, I wouldn't be buying it with the US soundtrack. It's weird, to me. It's like playing Devil May Cry with Werehog battle music. It feels incorrect to me, and that's off putting. I'd rather just play the game on my PC or on my Xbox through NeoGenesis or something.
Eh, I like Sonic CD. I'll check this out while I'm at PAX (yes, I'm going). Not that I'll actually get it on XBLA, Spoiler considering that I can emulate it just fine whenever I want to play it since I could hook up my Sega CD if I was desperate to play it. It probably still works.
Not. Quite. Just be considerate of the details surrounding the port before writing it off for some arbitrary reason. There can always be more at play than "SEGA releases another Genesis port" after all.
This will probably be another shitty port. And it won't offer any enhancements either. I wouldn't give two fucks about this anyways. Looks like it'll be another microsoft exclusive just so they can say they have something we don't. Shitty cash throwing companies ruining my fun. I'm sick of these ports from them too, seriously, what the fuck is up with that? Sega keeps banking on our nostalgia to sell us this shit, just look at the latest game. Pathetic really, and what's worse is that we keep falling for this horseshit. Lazy good for nothing company. At least it'll keep the idiots happy. Ya'll with your bullshit soundtrack preferences. And they were both just awful soundtracks too. Bad and didn't fit the game at all. Levels were completely horrible too. Enjoy your shitty port.
For some people it's not arbitrary though. I remember once somebody told me that they had S&K on their PC. When I played it and it had the wrong music, it felt strange. Music makes a difference to some people. If SEGA pulls something out from it's hat and makes whichever soundtrack they use (if they only choose one!) okay, then that's great. If not, then oh well. It's not a big deal either way.
Last time they dumbed down music for the Wii it was much worse. EDIT: Fucking ninja edit :P
Jesus Christ. It's worse than I remembered.
Are you saying that Sonic Generations is a lazy cash in and they're taking advantage of us by releasing such a shitty fucking game?
That actually made me lol. It's horrendous. Seriously though, if they did do a Wii port, I'd be very interested in seeing how they handle the music. It's very unlikely to happen though.
I'm saying this is going to be nothing more than a lazy cash in and Generations is proof that we're all ready to surrender our money to nostalgia. But I suppose this was not the correct topic to lash out. Back to shitty music. You'd better hope they don't decide to make a Wii version or you'll have to add another soundtrack to the great soundtrack debate.
