Sonic 1/2 Restore Purchase

Discussion in 'General Sega Discussion' started by Irixion, Oct 27, 2018.

  1. Maybe I'm blind, but where the heck did the restore purchases button go in the iOS versions? I bought them before the free but filled with ads versions were a thing and now I'm stuck with the latter. It's nowhere in Settings that I can see... what gives?!

As far as Sonic CD, I bought the ad free IAP but it still gives me the ads. Thanks SEGA.

I'm on an iPad Mini 2 running iOS 12.

When first booting up the game on iOS 12 for the iPhone 8 Plus:

    and when in the game:

Can we get this merged into the Sega Forever thread?

  3. The bottom on my bottom right isn't there. Is the ad in the top left supposed to be there regardless of whether or not you've purchased the game? Looking at Sonic 4, I'm not the only one who has the “paid but still ads” issue. Is there a problem with SEGA forever? Talk about damaging your brand.

Yes, you're stuck with those fucking ads even if you purchased in the past.
Paying money now only gets rid of the ads that interrupt the games.

  5. How is this allowed? Doesn't this break some kind of rule? False advertising? You're telling me it'll be ad free but then give me ads. Why aren't people freaking out over this?

Many of us have been expressing our disappointment with the Sega Forever campaign in the Sega Forever thread. This just happens to be one of the least troublesome things that we've moved on from (or just accepted at this point) because ads for other Sega Forever games were introduced in this patch. I just forgot about it until now.

You know what I really hate? The game wants to collect my data now. If you don't consent to this, you can't play the game. This stipulation didn't exist before.

So I remember reading the Sega terms of agreement and privacy nonsense but can't find the post where I said it was all invasive but I have found something MUCH bigger than that....

This is taken from the play store as of this post:

Following the first link here: http://www.sega.com/terms
Following the second link here: http://www.sega.com/mprivacy
    Holy shit, isn't this illegal?

EDIT: The fix is to delete your sega.com cookies in your web browser, because Sega now FORCES you to accept cookies on any Sega.com (well, not forever.sega.com for SOME unknown reason) to even view their terms of agreement.

They were last updated in May 2018, so yeah, it's been like that for a while Blue Blood.

EDIT2: Clicking on sega.COM's cookie policy takes you to sega.CO.UK's cookie policy here: https://www.sega.co.uk/cookiepolicy

EDIT3: SHADY. SHIT. I KNEW IT!

Remove your Sega cookies and visit the following sites in order:

The new SegaShop for the UK, then click "Continue to UK shop". At the bottom of the site, a banner asking to accept their cookies is available, go ahead and do it.

At the top of the screen you can Check out the US shop, go ahead and go there. This may to write a sega.com cookie.

Now attempt to visit the terms or privacy agreements on sega.com, or sega.com itself and you will be given a Forbidden error.

    This is a HUGE problem!

EDIT4: Sega.net support, the only support offered for Sega.com, has told me to contact Sega.co.uk for support on a Sega.com issue. Is Sega leaving the Americas for the UK or something? This is very confusing...

EDIT5: Sega.co.uk support is sending me to zendesk support holy shit the ride never ends!

EDIT6: ZENDESK HAS SENT ME TO [email protected] THE RIDE NEVER ENDS!

EDIT7: support.sega.co.uk now gives me the following error when I have no sega.com cookies at all: 525 Origin SSL Handshake Error

EDIT8: [email protected] IS ACTUALLY SEGA OF EUROPE ZENDESK HOLY SHIT I AM DEAD!

EDIT9: Sega support sent me a satisfaction survey. Here it is unfiltered:

EDIT10: Vincent has marked the issue as solved again:

    EDIT11: They suspended me:

EDIT12: The bug is still there btw:

I can't stand these versions of the game tbh, I tried going back to play sonic 1 through these newer updated apps and it was upsetting.

Just checked and it looks like Sega finally fixed their cookie issue. Holy shit that took forever... It's not called "SEGA Forever" for nothing I guess...

EDIT: Nevermind. It worked twice but it's still coming up as Forbidden, even after the Sega Heroes update...

EDIT1: Calling the listed Sega US support number. (866) 226-8092, brings up a very British automated menu and every response asks you to visit the help.sega.com site. It's just another fucking goddamn loop. :specialed:/>

EDIT2: Called the Sega Shop number (888) 870-5960 and the guy over the phone tried to indicate they did not handle that, but after having him experience the Forbidden issue himself and explaining that it was the cookies, he said he would escalate the issue. It's about fucking time.

EDIT3: All it took was the call to the right place. Getting banned and have every Sega rep telling me to fuck off, being unable to direct me to a single human being capable of fixing this problem. As of 11/24/18, nearly a full month after the bug was discovered and was running for god knows how long before that, it's fixed.

At least on android, if you bought the games as non-SF standalones you're able to go back in to your download history and get those versions again. Sonic 1 and 2 i think you can still search for but the original Sonic CD has been de-listed from search completely.
