I rarely show my head around here anymore, but I figure I would poke my head in for a quick question. What would be the easiest way to make a virtual console game (Wii, WAD file obviously) out of Sonic 3 and Knuckles? I've tried inserting the rom into Sonic 3, that's too small. I inserted it into Sonic 3D Blast, and that doesn't do SRAM saving. I'd also like to change the image of the channel and whatnot aswell.

I say just use the homebrew channel and the Gens emulator they released personally.

It is probably better than the emulators that the VC is using.
I say probably because I only have 1 Mega Drive VC game, Shining Force. But I'd rather a 240p signal than a 576i signal.

I wouldn't put it past Sega to release that game eventually
Sadly with the lack of advertising for the VC and whanot, I expect only the super well-known mainstream games are downloaded by the masses (Mario, Sonic, Zelda etc.). Great that Sega is still releasing VC games, but they're running out of mainstream ones (unless they dip into the Arcade section some more), so my guess is eventually they'll cave in to the somewhat lowish sales and release Sonic 3&K as one game.
I've always found it strange that Nintendo never advertised the service like they've done with Wii Sports, Wii Fit etc. I mean surely they'd pull a load of people that had no clue it was supporting all these systems.
Of course Sega could always take the much better option and make a WiiWare "revamp" classic Sonic titles like Gradius Rebirth, Mega Man 9 etc.
but yeah best chance is with homebrew though I expect over time Nintendo will start forcing some of these updates that kill the homebrew stuff (or severely damage it anyway)

Still hasn't answered my question though. Does anyone know how to make a custom channel?

Only thing I know is someone who made a custom wad for S3K up at Wiiso (With working SRAM and stuff). But from what I read before, you need an AutoWadInjecter or something like that. And has to do with the limitations of what game the inject's going into.
Like said bout the S3K wad, I'm pretty sure Wiiso or anything like it has tutorials or stuff that might answer some of your questions

After all, if you know what an emulator is, unless you really want an insane amount of integration, you don't use Virtual Console.

I'd perfer to just have a one click solution. I don't need a whole full fledged emulator in homebrew channel just so I can play ONE game, you know?
As for the auto wad injector, I used one but I stuck it in Sonic 3D... which doesn't have SRAM.
