It's been really quiet in here guys! The silence is deafening. Has anything happened?
I thought we were all just waiting for a release now. There's really nothing more to discuss right now is there? Nothing at all. Unless you just want to speculate on a bunch of things (it's all you can really do).

Project:Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
That's what I thought. All we can really do now is wait till release.
Wait woah can we talk about this for a fucking second??

You said S2HD is a complete overhaul. What's that mean?
Sonic 2 HD won't just be the original experience with a new coat of paint. Extras are on the drawing board right now. A couple of these include zones that never made it into the original like Hidden Palace Zone, and an online multiplayer component. The team has a few other ideas in mind as well, so stay tuned!
From the facebook page. Have we talked about this? Can we talk about this?

I mentioned a long time ago that adding the S3 two player levels and gameplay would be a good idea—only to receive disagreeing remarks. What do you guys think about it now?

I still don't think that the Sonic 3 levels should be included for 2 player, unless they were expanded into full-length levels. Seriously, S3 2-player couldn't hold a candle to S2 2-player.

I found the Sonic 3 multiplayer oddly addictive for some reason (edit: maybe I was just a sucker for the music... looping around and around, over and over in a trance). Way back then though. As it stands I think they've already got plenty to be getting on with for a good many years and this pretty much falls under the "major addition" category anyway. So I don't see how it can be realistically considered for inclusion. Even if it were a wildly popular idea, I don't see how it could fit in at this stage unless the project became a lot larger and more active than it currently is.

If people want the Sonic 3 levels then why don't they ask the S3HD team to do them? I mean it's part of that game so I would be expecting them to do them. If the S2HD team did decide to do Sonic 3, then I would hope the main game would be the first thing they get recreating. The multiplayer levels in S3 seem rather irrelevant and more of an afterthought compared to the rest of the game.

I'm far more interested in the prospect of Hidden Palace zone getting in there.

I do as well and I hope they expand on the design (even though it's nice looking it's still quite bland) like new gimmicks, new acts and an original boss. I would love to see that water slide being put to use acting in a similar fashion to the slides in Labyrinth Zone. The level that's in the beta serves nothing more that a test level and it's not a level I fully enjoy due to how incomplete it is. Hopefully S2HD staff do new level design and even leave in the beta layout for the purists.

What'd be really awesome is that, once the tiles and stuff were all done and put together, the S2HD stuff let em loose on us with a level design contest. That's be balls to the wall awesome

Shortly after we put up a link to the demo we'll be providing the answer to this and a lot more.

Goddamn the cryptics! Made even more irritating by the fact that we're waiting bits and pieces of the engine to fall into place, which happens in such small increments that you guys don't even have anything to really tell us!

!
I'm not actually mad.

Well the way it's going, they're obviously going to have a heck of a lot to tell us by release. Should be very interesting indeed! I'm not entirely sure what's stopping them from just being open about it and telling us now... but oh well. Their call.

Because I'm going in for bowel surgery next week and I don't want to miss the launch of the alpha, it's not likely that it will be released within the upcoming month because I'm gonna to be stuck in hospital for a while and preoccupied with learning how to stand up and walk again.

Good luck with that surgery and post op physical therapy, steveswede. Godspeed.
Though your wording is a little confusing. Are you asking if a release is likely within the next week or so? Cause I don't think CK would answer a question like that. Atleast, not out in the open

I am and while I agree he most likely wouldn't do that in the open, I'm kinda hoping that I may be told in a PM (I really shouldn't have posted in the public forums but it was late, I wasn't thinking straight, I was tired and I went straight to sleep after that). I'm not trying to use my surgery to fish it out of them I just genuinely don't want to miss the launch. The whole reason I signed up to Retro was to write music for it when they were accepting contributions so seeing the release is a big thing for me.
And thanks for the support because this is the biggest out of the three surgeries I'm having and I'm bricking it. It's my 2nd one on March 7th so I'll be gone for a good while at that point.
