Who were the voice actors of Sonic and Tails in the Dreamcast ads? And why didn't they have these people voice act in Adventure?

One thing I've always found amusing about the Dreamcast commercials was that Sonic and Tails had entirely different voice actors...who sounded much better than what we got in Sonic Adventure.

For comparison...

Does anyone have any idea who were these voice actors? I looked at the wiki for Sonic and Tails and neither of those voice actors were listed. I really wonder why these people weren't chosen to do the voice acting since they did a much nicer job than the SA1/SA2/Sonic Heroes voice actors or what we got from 4Kids.

Off-Topic: Could the amount of embedded videos be upgraded from 2 to something higher? >_>

I don't know about anyone else, but that Sonic voice sounds like Ryan Drummond to me.

These sound like the SA voice actors to me. Just better direction, maybe... which is kind of sad.

(Also, did that guy just say "Shut up, fucking bitch" to Tails?)

Yeah, they sound about the same to me. Corey Bringas just tries too hard to sound excited in the actual game. Also the animation's worse.

The line sounds better, but my 90s slang is rusty. What does "getting roofed" mean again?

To me it sounds like Ryan trying to sound more like the Japanese VA.

Those commercials take me baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. I am 90% certain those are the Adventure actors in those commercials.

Yep, that's good Ol' Drummond. I loved those commercials when they aired.

o_O

In that case, why the hell do they sound so much better in those ads than in the game? I was watching some cutscene footage of the game and the voice acting was awful.

It's the direction more than anything in Adventure- there's too much space between people talking- it's not always fluent, and the feeling of urgency/anger/seriousness wasn't always put across well.

But yeah, that's good ol' Drummond in those adverts.

Lol, "Brian, you're about to get roofed."

Yeah, sounds like the same voice actors, but much better, as made clear already.

Sonic Adventure was recorded with the actors trying to match pre-existing mouth flaps and (slow) animations. Compare how wigged out the character models act with what they're actually supposed to be saying.

In a commercial requiring fast delivery and designed with an English audio track in mind it's not as big an issue. Flaps wouldn't even need to match that well since they're on screen for such a short time.

I dunno, maybe it's just that Sonic says like all of 4 words but I'm not really getting this "It's so much better!" sense that all of you apparently are.
