I believe that Laser Sonic has the potential to be more than just a reskin of his boost ability. Since Sonic is practically light in that form, maybe he could pass through glass and crystal walls with no problems at all. Sonic's laser form would probably get canceled out if he hit any non-transparent solid object. If that's true, then that could reward players for not hitting anything in laser form.

Of course, the areas where Sonic can use a Cyan alien should be wide and vast to make sure that you have room to see what obstacles are up ahead.

I like the sound of this.

He might also melt ice in that form.

Now that I think of it, what ever happened to Sonic running so fast that he leaves a trail of fire behind him. I'd love to see that in a game. I think it'd look better in a 2D game, though.

Oh dear CHRIST no. =P

Though I do now have an amusing mental image of the poor thing having to hark around the drumkit to play that bloody intro to the Werehog's fight music (you know, the one that sounds like they just dropped a drumkit). =P

It does sound cool, thus no one should get their hopes up. v.png

He might bounce off mirrors or such things in special puzzle-like segments of levels.

Truth be told, we have no idea how the laser will work differently to the boost. The press release says:
QUOTE
The Wisp energy enables Sonic to create new paths through the stages by drilling through the ground (Yellow Drill) for example, or speeding through the stage as a laser (Cyan Laser). Stringing the Wisp power ups together creates a combo that increases Sonic's boost gauge even more quickly

Somehow I hugely doubt that it'll just be the boost.

We don't even really know how the laser works yet either.

I think the purple one might let you dissolve into shadows though, it reminds me of a similar power on another game.

Maybe the green one turns into a snot bubble... That's what it reminds me of. v.png

A lot of people seem to be asking for/expecting a gameplay style like the Adventure games, and I have to strongly disagree with this. The point of Unleashed was to revolutionize the gameplay and to ditch the old style used for the past nine years that had become stale and ultimately very ineffective by that time. And from the sound of things, Sonic Colors is said to take what Unleashed gave us and build upon it. Sega is finally taking a good idea and expanding upon it, which is what I've personally been waiting for for years now.

With that being said, I read Blue Blood's thread at SSMB (the one quoted last page that we are currently discussing), and I must say some of the concepts mentioned are getting me excited. I can't wait to find out what each Wisp does. Being able to blast through a stage as fast as possible and use some of these things to your advantage sounds like a pretty fun time. In Unleashed we got boost, drift, and stomp, and that alone was enough to make the stages fun and interesting, so being able to pull crazy stunts like phase through walls and fly should make them twice as fun, and maybe even twice as hard, later on.

I'm also interested in the DS version. Since Sonic Colors is going to be two games like Sonic Unleashed, who knows what it'll be like? A full 3D game would be really cool this time, though I doubt it would happen. If not, it will be interesting to see how they can apply the same concepts to a Rush-style game.

We're not exactly sure yet what type of gameplay Colors will have besides it involving Wisps that give Sonic powerup. Still, a style that expands on Unleashed's daytime levels is more than welcome for me. I prefer the daytime levels of Unleashed to the Sonic/Shadow levels of the Sonic Adventure games, and I only played the Wii version of Unleashed. v.png I can definitely see it happening, since Unleashed's Sonic the Hedgehog levels are much more better received than most if not all of the Sonic levels of the previous 3D Sonic games.

The green alien looks like a way to make Sonic stretchy without turning him into a werehog. If that's true, then that's definitely for the better since Sega knows how much we absolutely adore werehogs. specialed.png

Maybe that isn't such a silly idea... Didn't they say they wanted (or was it they will?) use the werehog again? The purple Wisp might turn the stages to night time or just enable the werehog, allowing Sonic to branch to different parts of the stage.

Well, okay, it is silly, but it's something I wouldn't put past Sega. >_> But not much is known about the game so far so it's no point getting worked up about it. I'm just going to see how it all works out, it seems pretty good so far, even with minimal info on everything.

Fixed that for you. eng101.png

Cute pictures, a teaser and a less than imaginative name is about all we have. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though, especially if there are extra goals or bonuses to find in each level.

>Knuckles should stop being a retarded moron who doesn shit for no reason. He should be a rival/friend. He should be a dependable friend who always there to help, but is still an asshole and there should be a level of rivalry between him and Sonic. He doesn't have to be smart or amazing with tech. He can be clueless about stuff that is related to modern. However, that doesn't mean he's a complete fucktard who constantly gets tricked.

I'm actually quite enjoying the fact Knuckles hasn't shown up in a while. He's supposed to be guarding the Master Emerald, and it seems like he or even Sonic Team completly forget about it and just throw him into games that don't need him. Zero Gravity for instance, he just happened to be driving along with Sonic and Tails, he barely said anything during the cutscenes due to be interupted by Amy. The M.E. wasn't mentioned at all during that game. I was slightly annoyed he wasn't in Sonic Unleashed. A story based around the Chaos emeralds being restored and no M.E.? You couldn't even see Angel Isand on the map screen.

I'm just hoping Sonic isn't the only playable character in this. Their's so many characters now, and playing as Sonic all the time can get rather.. boring.
