A lot of people seem to be asking for/expecting a gameplay style like the Adventure games, and I have to strongly disagree with this. The point of
Unleashed was to revolutionize the gameplay and to ditch the old style used for the past nine years that had become stale and ultimately very ineffective by that time. And from the sound of things,
Sonic Colors is said to take what Unleashed gave us and build upon it. Sega is finally taking a good idea and expanding upon it, which is what I've personally been waiting for for years now.
With that being said, I read Blue Blood's thread at SSMB (the one quoted last page that we are currently discussing), and I must say some of the concepts mentioned are getting me excited. I can't wait to find out what each Wisp does. Being able to blast through a stage as fast as possible and use some of these things to your advantage sounds like a pretty fun time. In
Unleashed we got boost, drift, and stomp, and that alone was enough to make the stages fun and interesting, so being able to pull crazy stunts like phase through walls and fly should make them twice as fun, and maybe even twice as hard, later on.
I'm also interested in the DS version. Since
Sonic Colors is going to be two games like
Sonic Unleashed, who knows what it'll be like? A full 3D game would be really cool this time, though I doubt it would happen. If not, it will be interesting to see how they can apply the same concepts to a Rush-style game.
