Hello people, I'm looking for a collector to feature in a half-page interview for Retro Gamer magazine. Obviously, you'll need a big Sonic collection and the ability to take decent photos of it. We can only feature one, sadly, so please don't have hard feelings if I choose someone else.
Well, my boyfriend and I have a pretty good collection ( mostly games, but I have a few merch items too, namely the 15 and 20 aniversary statues and a few plushies), if you don't mind we're spaniards...
Well, I have a big Sonic Game Collection: Unfortunately, taking multiple, good pictures of it is the problem I have, which is a shame. I'm sure someone else here can help you, though.
I'd have to organize all my Sonic stuff from out of my other gaming nick nacks, but I'll try and get some pictures in. Because why not.
I'm sure I don't have the largest collection, but…. First4Figures (only Classic versions): Classic Sonic Super Sonic Exclusive Knuckles Exclusive Metal Sonic Dr. Robotnik Exclusive Tails Exclusive Sonic and Tails Tornado Archie Sonic the Hedgehog issues #0-150 (around there I think) Classic Sonic and Tails Plushies Multiple Sonic children's book and chapter books Sega Dreamcast Misc. games (not as complete as others will have) Custom creations: Very Large Acrylic painting of Spring Yard Zone (professional quality) Metal cut-outs of Sonic and Robotnik in Classic pose (I own a CNC business) I will be doing more custom Sonic art and signage this year once my new shop is complete. Hand made Sonic Quilt my mom made me when I was a child. Probably a bunch more random stuff. I am capable of taking very nice photos, and I have an attractive modern home as backdrop. I can grab photos when I have some time. What deadline is there?
I'm gonna second this. I had started thinking about my collection last night, and although some of my items are unique, and I have some nice stuff, I don't think it is probably what you're looking for. My collection is more “reasonable” and here and there throughout my home. You are probably looking more for the hoarder type of collector, with an entire room/apartment/shrine/life dedicated to the collection.
Seconding what's been said here. I have a standard 'one of each game' deal, plus special editions and such, but then you get some of these collectors who are very much ONE OF EACH REGION IN REGULAR, PLATINUM AND THE SONIC X GBA VIDEO CARTS AND ALL THE FUKKEN MERCH. Which I'm always impressed by. That being said, my friends own a very nice Retro game shop here on the Isle of Wight. I edited this video for them a while back and snuck a bit of the Sonic Colours OST in there. Not that it's relevant to what's going on now, as the most exotic Sonic thing I know they have are some Japanese Mega Drive carts and a SEGA Nomad, but maybe for future reference. Here my main display of stuff, which is most of my best bits: And here's my Sega games corner which includes most of my Sega games excluding PAL Saturn and Game Gear. Also got a bunch of stuff in the loft including two of the old jackets (blue Sonic 2 one and red Coca Cola one).
@GagaMan Nice collection man! Loving the Rosie the Rascal doll, I've never come across one like that before. Cool!
This whole thread could have been avoided with a PM to doc_eggfan :v: Speaking of which, have we ever gotten a good pic of your whole collection? (Or what portion of it will fit in the frame? :P)
One of these days I ought to get everything out of the loft and just snap as much as I can within one photo or two. Would be a task and a half haha.
My collection is impressive, but it doesn't look impressive in photos, as it's all packed up in boxes until I move into a bigger home Did a recent post about it on the DCJY (with Gagaman) http://www.thedreamcastjunkyard.co.uk/2016/03/a-look-inside-junkyard.html
If he's still around then Spazz may be good to hit up; back in the day he had a HUGE collection of Sonic stuff. I've got around 50 Genesis games myself, but they've been sitting in an unopened box since I moved. I've been considering doing a dedicated setup in my basement with my CRT TV and the console after I finish making my spare bedroom into an office, but I honestly don't know when I'd ever play it anymore haha.
