Suprise no one has started a thread yet. I've got to say alot of the tracks are very hard to recongize from their original counterparts, it's almost like listening to a whole new song. Reading the tags in the files show that more than one song was used for alot of the arrangements. Can't really recall a track I seriousily liked though.

Some of the songs you'll able to spot bout 20 seconds or so in. I guess it wasn't me that Subsonic Sparkle sounded a bit like Collison Chaos GF (this before I read the tags and I gave it a listen). I gave Caos a good listen for a while.

The vocal parts of "Under Construction" remind me a bit of Rouge's stage themes from Sonic Adventure 2. Except for the part where the vocal part specifically namedrops the makers of the song. Not cool.
Also, side note: Does "Clockwork Criminal" kinda sound like it should be from the Genesis version of Sonic 3D Blast to anyone else?

"Under Construction" is the only good song. The rest of this album puts me to sleep and is fucking terrible. We have over a million simple guitar "remixes" of Green Hill. Did we really need more? Did they need to remix the special stage, like, 3 times and make one of them sound like softcore porn?
It's another OCR album where they try to hard to make their remixes sound nothing like the source material and fail.

I disliked pretty much all of these. It's like they brought in a bunch of no-name mixers to do most of the soundtrack, and the new OCR kids try way too hard to change the songs up beyond recognition. They lack the solid balance of more experienced mixers. I guess that's what happens when you provide criteria and expect everyone to live up to it, though...
Tracks worth listening to (lifted shamelessly from my Twitter): Subsonic Sparkle, Fifty Rings to Ride, Under Construction, Caos, Clockwork Criminal, A Hog in His Prime (kinda).

I agree with the general consensus here. The songs on this album are either hit or miss. Mostly miss, but there are a few good ones. I also agree that I've heard enough Green Hill Zone remixes on Guitar.

One listen through, I'm not sure what to think. The first two tracks were rather atrocious imo. "Sound of Speed" has interesting stuff in the background that is completely washed out by the blaring guitars. Were a synthline used like the other tracks I would've enjoyed it much more. It just comes off as two or more styles clashing heavily.
Things seemed to calm down after that, and while all in all it was a pleasant enough listen, nothing really sticks out in my mind.
I echo Tweaker's statements on the mixing. Though I've never thought about mixing much myself, I took notice of Project Chaos' mostly-decent mixing job, whereas this doesn't seem to have anything done to it. It's just there - the guitars' mono input stuck out jarringly to me.
His track recommendations as well. The boss track "Hogtied" perked me up a small bit for its deviance from the chillness of the rest of the album, but that's all. Again, the guitars clash violently with the rest of the instruments and it comes off sounding unfinished/not realized terribly well.
Overall, it's very middle of the road.

I didn't like any of these. As if ruining Street Fighter II HD Remix wasn't enough for them.

I hated everyone of these not a single remix has anything appealing to them and sound nothing more than your typical pop song cover version with no respect for the originals. Oh and whoever did that remix of Labyrinth needs their head examining. You have destroyed that tune by using a vocal synth autotuned to fuck as the lead.

QFT. Though I give credit for what Zircon did with his remix of Fei Long's stage as that was the only decent one. The only problem was that it sounded more of a new tune that stopped it from capturing the original. Vega's stage is the one I hate the most due to the fact that it makes me want to go to sleep. The original CPS1 had a fast pace to it with galloping synth guitars that suited Vega's fighting style. Doing music for games especially remixes is just as important as dubbing anime, it's got to fit and have the right kind of energy behind it and the OverClocked remixers never seem to get it.

Echoing the statements that this was awful. They sure stand out against the thousands of other remixes out there, but maybe that's because they seem liberal with using the source material, whereas most others stick to it very closely.

I haven't listened to the album, but I listened to the Youtube demo that had a few of the tracks in it, and I don't like the style. I have no problem with a remix wanting to deviate greatly from the original, but listening to these it feels like they're more interested in messing around with electronic sounds than actually capturing the correct melodies and tonalities that defined the original music. It's nice hearing other interpretations of music I like, but if they can't get a basic melody right, then no thanks.
And personally I always love hearing a guitar remix of video game tunes. Didn't much like the GHZ remix though. The bass was an octave lower and barely audible, and the guitar was a bit sloppily sliding around on the melodies.

Think the Sound of Speed is bad? Wait'll ya wrap your brain around THIS one.
http://icecap.ocremix.orgAn entire OCR album dedicated to... Icecap Zone. I gotta say, that is the dumbest idea I've ever heard.
