It was Ay Jay idea to use his sprites, they are amazing after all. And thank you, I'm really proud how Silver Shrine shaping up.
I've posted concept art for Brass Valley before, but now here's the progress on its actual formation. This time, the art is being primarily done by Naoshi, whose known for working with Emerald Ties, and I am handling level design, with a full map already completed. There is still many things to add like details and scenery, however.
>''@DarkVDee Looking fantastic! The details are very amazing to look at. Loving the fact you guys are using Shinb's sprites for the characters. Made me sad when I learned he passed away. He was a good friend of mine back at MFZ.'' Why thank you Dolph, really nice to see you're liking Silver Shrine Zone so far. I might post some screenshots of Grassy Slope Zone, Silver Shrine's predecessor, just for comparisons sake, and to see how far the game has come along. DVD and I are considering submitting Sonic Time-Lapsed to SAGE, but we're a bit behind since we're waiting for the Flicky Engine to be released. Maybe we'll still make it? I hope so at least.
I made a short video to announce a release date for Sonic Time Twisted, April 19th. You can see some footage of Drifting Dynamo Future in the background. I also updated the wiki with more accurate information. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYiXc5BVYgU
A full fan game coming out? Sounds like the perfect way to tide the fandom over until Mania comes out.
Hopefully it's polish and the difficulties are balance out, the last demo had it's ups and downs there.
That was a symptom of a hard deadline and working 2 jobs, going to college and running SAGE. The game has been thoroughly tested by at least 25 people at this point. I've only announced the release date because the game is finished. Here's a list of what the game contains: 28 Acts to explore 8 Original 2D Sonic Zones 10 Bosses to fight 6 elemental shields including 3 all new ones 360 physics extremely close to the Genesis/MegaDrive Sonic Games 3 Playable Characters Sonic, Tails and Knuckles 12 3D Special Stages Time Travel between the Future and Past
I remember playing the demo of Time Twisted which I enjoyed. Good physics, 32x-esque art looks lovely and of course Sonic CD-esque time travel. Looking forward to playing the finished game!
Your game has always looked excellent Overbound and I know you've spent eons working on this and must have invested a ridiculous number of hours here - so kudos on doing something very few fangame creators manage to achieve and complete a full game! That sounds like an extremely impressive amount of content too. I'd strongly suggest starting a dedicated thread to promote this - I'm sure most on Retro would be extremely interested in giving your game a spin. I know I am. Looking forward to the release!
Thanks 360 and OcelotBot I really want people enjoy the game so its good to hear some of you at Retro are looking forward to it. Here's an image of the a Special Stage I just uploaded to the wiki. I'll make a thread and release a little more info as the date gets closer. I have a really stupid video I made that has a little footage and then a proper trailer I'll release couple days before the 19th.
I'm so glad a fan game is finally having actual 3D special stages. IIRC every other (finished) fan game has only 2D special stages.
After several years of pause, I went back to my old project! This week I started working on the Knuckles gameplay. /> (Ignore the green bug of this gif) ORA ORA! :v:
Nothing too amazing but yeah. Stages like this will have 2 Layers, Layer (A) (Foreground, aka normal) and Layer (B) that you get access to when using a special spring. Graphics for Layer (B) will be changed later. Sonics sounds will also change when you're in the (B) layer. And the (A) Layer will become slightly transparent so you see everything that's happening in the bg layer.
Reminds me of Wario Land VB for the Virtual Boy. That, Jack Bros and (if you lower your standards) Mario Clash are the only three games from the Virtual Boy that are worth playing. Just not worth buying a Virtual Boy. But back on topic, that looks amazing!!
Some ideas I came up while working on my project. It was so beautiful that I was thinking of switching from Sonic Modern to creating a Classic Sonic game with Advance graphics. What do you think? hehe />
Bleh Sandstorm is animated and stuff. Some BG gfx like the Dunes will change later, they're just placeholders atm.
I definitely like the foreground stuff. The background elements from Desert Palace doesn't mix at all with the Americana/Western foreground. The sky is also a bit dark for such a vibrant foreground, but maybe it's just because of the sandstorm.
