there are actually quite a few problems with the road ahead. Stuff I'm not sure how to categorise. All this searching for Zaxxon reminded me we have Milton Bradley board games to consider.
I mean seriously why is there so much love for Zaxxon - I can barely play the damned thing.
We'd have to have a separate category, unless there's a blanket term for LCD/VFDs. Segment displays maybe (though I think that only applies to digital clocks), or just "LCD and VFD games".
Off the top of my head I can only think of Zaxxon and Alex Kidd board games. I bet there are more.
Sega distributed Tiger Electronics games in Japan for a bit. I don't know how many, but judging by those product codes... there's probably at least eleven. Could be the entire range.
they also made some of their own
but at the moment I'm not entirely sure what this is... other than it was released in 1992
I don't know about the others but the Hang-On above was originally released by Tiger, I know because I had one and the gameplay screen is the same.
Tec Toy had a partnership with Tiger to release their LCD games here in Brazil, they were called MINIGAME and this partnership lasted throughout the golden age of Tec Toy (1989 - 1996).
Don't know if any of you already saw this but this page http://ibnelson.com/...mps_layout.html has some ntersting info about a couple of SEGA LCD games from the artist behind them.
Thanks. This Beck Tech? Also I seriously hope that Eternal Champions one doesn't look like that plan; how could you seea nything?!
Read the "Profiled in Adobe Magazine" PDF, it explains how LCD games works, how he got contracted by SEGA and the troubles he had to convert E.C to an LCD Game, really interesting read.
*EDIT:
Looking carefully at the layout, you will notice the battle consisted of trowing projectiles at each other with every projectile changing positions 5 times before hitting the opponent.

the more interesting ones are OutRun F-1, SDI (LCD) and Submarine Wars - these were there "super sound" LCD handhelds released by Tiger in 1989, but Sega re-branded them

I made wiki articles about all the Sonic LCD games I was aware of. If doubt there are more but you can look if you want. Here's the Sonic LCD game articles.
This is missing one that I used to own. It was gray and kind of similar, I think, to the ones that you had flip the screen but mine was significantly different in that the screen went inside the unit and would lock there until you had to pop it out again. It was a retail release, not some McDonald's throw-in, and the pop-screen mechanism was pretty flimsy and broke soon after I got it. Does anyone else recall this thing? I recall that this was part of a series of Sega LCD games. I think it was Christmas '93 or '94 that I got it.

Never seen this topic before but maybe I can assist with a query you lot had a while back.
Well, you were asking about who made the McDonalds LCD games? It just so happens I went out of my way to get the majority of those Happy Meal products when they were in distribution, and then I laminated (basically, I sellotaped around them- LOL) the little leaflets that came with every one (the leaflets that show the instructions and the rest of the collectibles to get). Maybe those say who developed them?
I'll dig them out this week and have a good gander.
Project:Oh so many incomplete projects, including starting projects...
Is it possible to get a Nostalgia migraine?

My Sonic 2 one didn't come out significantly better, however I bet no-one's heard this before: (File:Sonic2-lcd-theme.mp3 )
Because that gave me one... I mean, I guess it sounds alright considering the limited hardware, but man, that LCD game... oi, I remember having it, and I don't know what I did with it. I also remember it not being that fun and it was roughly based on Chemical Plant Zone as well as elements from Oil Ocean, I seem to recall they used the Octopus enemy and then whatever Eggman did, I forget, I just remember the game being not too fun. I never understood the appeal of the LCD games honestly, but I guess as a kid it was a funner time. Pretty sure I got it at some garage sale when I was younger.
