You think standing there straight back, hands on hips would look any better?

No, but they did realise by the 3d games they can just have him rest his arms like a normal human :v:

It's even more obvious in the AutoDemo; he doesn't bend his knees as far down as he does in the final.

I know this isn't exactly much to look at, nor can we get anything out of it, but it shows a little tiny different layout design (or different location of the lamp post). "Sonic The Hedgehog" on Facebook posted this picture the other day:

And I just don't recognise that part of the level on-screen. It comes close to the first lamp post in Act 1, but the ingrave of the tile art doesn't match. It could be a prototype as I see no HUD either (or it could be a mock-up coming to think about it). Again, not a game changer here, but thought I'd point it out...

Those kids are doing the funniest poses man, I'm surprised you didn't pick up on the kid hovering his fingers over the controller pretending he's playing.

To be honest, the controller looks liked it's plugged into the box =P

You know that that's not an actual Sonic ad, right? :v:

At first I thought it was the end of Act 3 right before the boss, but that's not right. It could just be a mockup since there's no HUD.

That on-screen chunk is clearly chunk 02, so that's a good place to start... are you sure it's not just a really zoomed-in screenshot of this place from the start of act 3?

No seriously why are you all trying to find a proto screenshot in a photoshop of an ad with kids playing on a PC?

Guys it's a quick photoshop job - there's no prototype stuff in there.

I mean genuinely, I did exactly the same thing for my own website/portfolio a couple of years ago:

do I have a prototype now?

Well okay yes I sort-of do since I took that screenshot but you get my point.

And yes "Quackers in Sonic 2" is totally compatible with the PC Jr.

Even so, I couldn't recognise the tile.

Also, I did mean for it to take it with a pinch of salt. I mean, the guy in the background can't be that exhausted =P

Just noticed the title screen on the left monitor. One Sonic 1 is not enough?

    Thanks!

Here's another attempt at removing the halftone (w/ color correction):

Awesome! I uploaded the original scan to my Google Drive and edited my previous post with the link so if anyone wanted to touch it up they could. I just have basic photo editing software on my PC lol.

No offense, but I'm not really a fan of that last attempt. Too overfiltered, and it actually destroys some of the detail. Case in point - in the image I'm about to post, you can actually still see the scanline structure of the original image.

I've taken the original scan, adjusted the black level a bit, resized it down to 600dpi, ran it through a descreen filter, slightly adjusted the black level further, and resized it down again to 300dpi for posting here.

There's still a slight horizontal moire effect but too much processing can be a bad thing.

That Sonic look's turquoise-ish now... Is your monitor well calibrated?
