Everyone here in Australia prononces it "SEA GAA" And that's how I hear it too. How do you say it?

  2. Most people I've heard name the company say it as "Siga". I'm not being clever either, they literally think that Sega is pronounced like that.

Screwed me up the first time I head someone say "Line-Ux" (as Linux is meant to be) instead of my normal pronunciation of "Lyn-Ux" (Like Lynx).. WTF!

(I still say Lyn-Ux, it's stuck in my head!)

It's sort of like Say-ga, but the first vowel isn't quite so bright. It's halfway between "say" and the Greek eta (Latin long e).

I just say "Company who dropped out of the mainstream". As soon as they become a hardware company again(unlikely) or listen to they're old school fans(never), I'll call them "Sega".

"Hi. Have you heard about Company who dropped out of the mainstream's new game? To be honest though, I think Company who dropped out of the mainstream got a bit shitty when they stopped being Sega and became Company who dropped out the mainstream. Company who dropped out the mainsteam used to make damn awesome games and hardware back in the day... too bad Company who dropped out of the mainstream dropped out of the mainstream, really."

    I can see it now.

Say-Gah or Sae-Gha. I pronounce it like the do in the logo screen in Sonic 1 or Sonic 3DB. Although less musical or meniacle.

  20. Same pronunciation, just different spelling. :P
