I recently acquired this beauty. You won't see many of them. In fact, I only know one other RVT-R disc in collector's hands.

It's not terribly interesting, as you can see, the date is close to the release, and the version is 1.00c, which would mean it's either final or very close to final. If it's not final, it *could* be interesting. One of the Gamecube protos had an SVN login somewhere in the files, this one could have some debug functions left or whatever other leftovers.

Before anyone asks, I can't play it, I can't dump it and I can't release it.

I can't play/dump it because they don't work on any retail Wiis or any regular DVD drives (yes, really). To play them, you need an RVT reader. They are very expensive, and very rare. And even with that, there is no known method of dumping them.

But, even if I could dump it, I wouldn't be able to release it -- I would get the previous owner in trouble if I did.

So, enjoy the pic =P

Very nice, drx, that's quite the find =D

I wonder if we will ever find a Sonic 1 proto, though... =(

What's the point of the thing if you can't really do anything with it? Doesn't make much sense, I'd say.

I wonder how much it was.

Yeah, I can't imagine it being terribly interesting. The effort is appreciated, though! :(

Fine day of the year, April 1st.

You could have chosen something more interesting than Secret Rings, too. :P

WTF? RVT-R (ReVoluTion) is a real format for dev Wiis. There's also RVT-H, that's a Wii with a HDD. RVT-R can't be dumped, even with a RVT -R reader.

Here's a pic of another RVT-R.

That's funny, I don't recall ever questioning the authenticity of an RVT-R.

Man, you could at least pretend to have say, some prototype music or something.

Then what? It's just a disc he can't do anything with. It's not like he can "fool" you or play a prank on you with it. He apparently just demonstrates this rare (and pointless) collector's item.

Yes, he decides to post about some near-final prototype disc that he cannot play or dump.

If drx were to even do that, which I personally don't think he would, why would he pick April 1st of all times?

Just sayin'.

If it was an April Fool's joke he would've teased us with some screen shots in-game or a different title screen. You guys are silly...or should I say FOOLS!

Well, whatever.

I mean, I've been making as many posts as I can seem like Rickrolls when they really aren't, a prank based on peoples' expectations of the day.
It IS possible that this is done for the same reasons -- an "anti-prank".

That said, I'm not chipping in to try to acquire a drive to read the disc until I see like a Youtube video of you actually holding the disc.

For the record, yes, that download IS a version of Let the Speed Mend It.
