Here's that level everyone speculated would be in Mania but it wasn't for some reason

It's worth using up a trial post to tell you that's damned impressive!

Well thank you! That was very kind of you~ It means a lot, people on Retro tend not to be interested in retro hacks these days, so normally I am quite hesitant to bother.

I'm more interested in Genesis/SMS hacks than Forces and Mania hacks. :P Great work as always MJ! To be honest, the forums are pretty dead. Not as dead as SSRG, but not as active as they once were. Quite a shame really...

I'm interested, although you have to remember, 2-player hacks are made for people who have friends, and this is the internet :eng101:

I'm waiting for you to finish porting Sonic CD to the Mega Drive, because I'm still fighting an anti-SNES campaign from 1993.

Good thing someone else said it, because I'm not sure I could have sounded nearly as nice.

Having the special stage run in splitscreen is technically really impressive but I would be far more excited if I actually had someone who'd want to play the game with me. Which is probably why I'm working on the thing where a single player controls both characters.

    Well done Neo :)

I assume you're going for two character Mania Plus mechanic, I've not played Mania though so it's an assumption, I'm curious how the bonus stages would handle, I'm not sure if the blue banner was intentional or due to a palette limitation, but I like it~

That is the biggest downfall about the project, almost all negative feedback was due to this, though given its nature not much can be helped.

We are looking into a CPU player, it's not a 100% solution, the alternative would be a brand new project, however, we have invested too much into this to drop it. Of course, if you have an ideal solution we are open to suggestions, many were quick to point the negatives, but few had expressed an idea of overcoming them.

Who told you I was porting Sonic CD to the Mega Drive?

I'm only vaguely familiar with such a campaign, I assume it's Sonic 2/Super Mario Kart "blast processing" advert related, though I'm not sure what porting Sonic CD would prove, unless you mean FMV/Special Stage stuff, there are plenty of proofs of concept around, I've done a few, as have many others. I think if you're looking for proof as to whether the Mega Drive can or cannot do what the SNES can, there's enough evidence to settle the dispute, unless I'm misunderstanding you.

Markey, I can't speak for everyone, but I personally thought that your screenshot was awesome, it's just that I'm not a fan of one-line replies because they might be seen as clutter on a forum of a certain level such as Retro, which is why I like the like system on SSRG, in that way I can express my opinion without wasting space, I only post when I have something long to say, whereas my reply to your screenshot wouldn't have been much longer than "omg".

    But yeah, friends.

Oh my god, that looks amazing!

But what is it? Two independent games in the same screen? Some kind of Vs mode (can't be cooperative since it's two different levels)?

The idea of a competitive mode for Blue Sphere is intriguing. Look forward to the set up.

Speaking of Battle Race, I forgot to mention I brought it to a barcade New Year's Eve on my flashcart, just to see if anyone had the chops.

No one could even figure out how to spin dash, so I couldn't really race. Only guy I knew who could be a challenge was blasted. Ah, well.

Oh no, please don't read me wrong, I was not "complaining" per se, it were merely an observation I was making.

I post expecting virtually no response due to the amount of times in the past where it's been the case. When you have a trial-ist graciously give up their post (and doing so knowing rather than being oblivious), just to mention their positive opinion, that in my mind is very, very thoughtful, and commands respect. I wanted to offer my appreciation towards that, I felt to show a factual observation I had made which would show to Wafer just how important his response is, I think it should be encouraged. I have my opinion with regards to posting minimal sentences, but I'll keep that opinion to myself, I don't think it would change anything.

tl;dr, I'm not offended, it was just an observation, you do not need to feel bad and try to explain yourself.
Actually... there's multiple game modes, the screenshot is only showing one where they play their own stage, there are two other modes where they share a stage and battle for the spheres in various ways (obviously, you couldn't know that from the shot), I like the idea of a cooperative mode though! Will look into that...

Well, thank you for your feedback guys, but I do hope you didn't do it out of pitty or guilt, as I mentioned above, it were merely an observation I was sharing to show my appreciation to Wafer, I would rather you weren't posting to humour me if that be it the case.

    Yes on both counts.

Anyway, I just finished implementing the 'roulette'-style monitors, so have another video I guess.

For the time being they just spawn Sonics without jump actions, I'm afraid.

Still it's a good start though. This is looking like a neat project, can't wait to see more!

If this were combined with Sonic 3 A.I.R we would have the perfect Sonic 3 remaster.
