I was just browsing Yahoo Japan Auctions tonight when I came across this Sonic pinball arcade machine for sale. I had never seen it before and found it to be really interesting and worth looking into. Apparently it's called CR Sonic and it is a pachinko machine made back in 2003. I checked the Wiki and it's on here but with very little information and small resolution images. It's being sold for 10,000 JPY which is around $90 USD. Here's a link to the Wiki page http://info.sonicretro.org/CR%20Sonic and here's a link to the auction listing <removed> The auction ends in 2 days + 11 hours and 10 minutes from now. I think this is a nice find and it would be really great if we could obtain it for archival purposes just like with the other Sonic arcade machines such as Waku Patrol Car and Cosmo Fighter.

I've seen the machine on eBay many years back which was listed for $150 with $200 shipping and no one bought it. I believe the seller finally took the auction down and sold it locally. I remember seeing video and the animation on the machine looks incredible.

I found some videos of the machine in action. It looks pretty cool and has some original animations and cutscenes! It uses the Sonic Adventure 2 models just like the Sonic Live! machine does.

And all this time I thought the PC release was the best version of Sonic Adventure 2

This brings it to a whole new level :specialed:

I sent an e-mail about this to someone who's part of the Dumping Union (the group that dumped and acquired the other three arcade titles from Japan). This is definitely something up their alley, so hopefully someone will acquire it in time.

CR Sonic?! damn thats something I haven't heard in a loooong time. We need that machine dumped and preserved for sure!

Somebody post something if someone is starting a collection to get that thing bought and shipped. Think I'll chip in to get CR Sonic preserved.

I saw it too when it was posted 4 days ago. I'm kind of debating getting it for my collection, but the shipping is one of the things holding me back from getting it.

And also competition is fierce on these things with actual Japanese sellers.

I got a reply back and it's been forwarded to someone who can try and buy it as well as dump it. He'll let me know what comes out of this.

Might want to remove the link in case of poachers?

Update on this.

Unfortunately it seems the seller wasn't happy that the item wasn't getting enough bids to a price he was interested in letting it go for so he closed the auction to possibly sell privately. I don't know if there will be an attempt to contact the seller to negotiate a price but I'm hoping he will budge, but it seems unlikely.

He might relist the game at a price he's more willing to let it go for, so keep an eye out and see if it appears again. If it does, contact me or the Dumping Union immediately ([email protected]).

I mean is he mad at Dumping Union or just that it wasn't getting bids in general?

Probably just upset that his machine wasn't worth a mint.

This is disappointing to hear. I was watching the auction in real time and saw it had two bids on it then suddenly like ten minutes before the auction ended the bids were removed and the listing ended. I was pretty confused because I had always assumed once you bid on something you made a commitment to buy that item. Thanks for explaining what happened. Hopefully a price can be negotiated or he'll relist the machine. I'll keep checking to see if the machine gets relisted and if it does I'll let you and the Dumping Union know immediately.
