This seems like good news. Sega is putting quality before quantity in this case.

Better evidence for Sonic 4 coming to IPhone?

I'm actually wondering if this had more to do with Apple's general stance on emulators on the iPhone, actually. Quote: "App Store policies prohibit software that could run downloadable code" - after all, not only did this get pulled (OK, that one wasn't with the approval of Nintendo), but this one has had a very turbulent history as well (and this one WAS officially sanctioned).

  3. As far as I know, OL, they changed that policy. I could be wrong, though.

Seriously though, I don't see the connection between this and Sonic 4. The only reason they'd cancel such a basic cash cow of a title is if they didn't think it would do well, if you ask me.

I've actually been waiting for this, it just seemed like a better way to purchase old MD ROMs on the iPhone. I believe the original pricing scheme would have been near enough £5 for the Genesis emu app with game, then £1-2 for more ROMs. I refuse to pay £5.99 for just S1, haven't you flogged that game to death yet Sega?
I hope that they do something worthwhile, I can really see classic RPGs working with touch controls, Ecco with touch controls and MCD soundtrack could probably get me to part with £3.50.
Some Apple policies have been rather strange of late, wtf have Apple got against porn?

That is sort of too bad, Shining Force on the iPhone would be fun. :)

However, if it is going to be slow and buggy like most of their older iPhone emulators, it would be a good idea.

And the C64 app was banned at first because of a hidden BASIC program.

I was actually hoping to convince my mom to let me put Shining Force on her iPod Touch and allow me to play it sometimes when we're far away.

    Ah well.

Sonic 1 on iphone has been £3.49 for quite a while now, the collection app was going to be free with a copy of space harrier thrown in, then the games would cost.

Since this is now more or less cancelled I'll have to bite my lip and buy the stand alone sonic, I love the game enough but wanted it in the collection app. Quite scary that it's still nearly always in the UK top 100 sales list since launch!

  10. Crap, I'd forgotten about this. Didn't they already have After Burner for free?

    No afterburner on iTunes.

Just another reason to jailbreak your iPhone.

Personally I plan on getting an iPad and jailbreaking it - as you may know, Sonic for iPhone OS is just a Genesis emulator. You can easily replace the ROM on a jailbroken phone. It plays Sonic 1, 2 and Ecco.

    There's also Genesis4iphone
