http://heranbago.digibase.ca/bluespheres/knux/ Since no one's going to make a real documentation (Saxman made a good attempt though) I will. This documentation is only half done or so, and there are a couple innacuracy's with it. The spelling and grammar also aren't perfect, but at least I try. There are a few people who know things about chaotix but don't share them. This information hoarding is just what I'm trying to avoid. So if you have anything at all you would like to add to the documentation, put it here and I will add it. I'm yet to do the sections for music, game codes, and level object layouts, but those'll get done eventually. To christen this, I'd like to point out that the chacer pallete pointers are at 18e4, but a set of unused ones follows at 1904. coppy the 32 bytes at 1904 and paste them over 18e4's 32 bytes and see the alternate, unused palletes for all the characters (Attatched image. Only Vector's alternate colors are the same). Note that Espio's pallete does not rotate. But yeah. Want to add stuff? Say it here.
Heh, glad you finally decided to release it. You do need to clean up a few sections, as this is kinda vague. Good job though!
That would be great Arouchs. I'm more than open for improvement. And as Tweaker said some parts are vague, especially without exoerience hacking for the MD or GBA. This guide needs quite a lot of work, but it's a start.
Something you may want to check out is the compression that the level mappings are stored in. If I remember correctly, the 16x16's and 128x128's in Crackers were compressed in the Enigma format, and they may also be compressed in Chaotix. Usually if you can find the mappings for one level, you can pretty much find the rest after that.
It's really a shame that you can't search for compressed data that's not in the Nemesis format. And I'm not quite the best documentation writer, but one of the reasons I'm making this is that if I don't no one else will.
*cough* I agree with Hivebrain about your guide being kind of low on content, but hey - you've gotta start somewhere, and what you've got so far is pretty good. Also, some of the images are broken, so you may want to fix that.
There isn't much now, but only because Heran kinda sucks at writing stuff down. Trust me. He knows a lot more than what is in that guide. I plan on helping him a bit, although I have my music hacking guide to attend to. I may give a few of you a preview of that later.
Broken images and Icy Guy fixed. That would indeed be the reason the content is lacking. Some stuff I have to go back and look at again to write it, just because I didn't innitially. Plus there's a bit more kept upstairs which I haven't written down, and that's always a bit time consuming, and not always top priority, especially when there are good games to be played. =P
Actually, have you considered putting this in a Wiki? That would make it much easier for other people to add information, and it would be a disincentive to making fifteen different guides.
Still, frickin' sweet. Holy crap, I'm glad there's not a rule about necroing a topic. I didn't even notice that this thing was 10 months old... *Gonk*
Woa, I didn't know this got archived. Cool. Damn, my spelling in that first post is HORRIBLE. That was right after I got full membered too. I need to move that guide over to my Hacking-culT space...
