    So, what's their reasoning for this then? They designed the levels to look good first and play properly as an afterthought?

    Disappointing for us purists, I guess, but a fun game is a fun fucking game, and I haven't got that much reason to expect this to not be fun despite not having perfectly working physics. Nevertheless, good work Jim.

    So how about that PC demo, SEGA?

    I've made a lot of progress, but I'm having trouble with something that you may be able to help with. I can't seem to rebuild bb.cpk to be the same as it was originally after altering it. What settings/program should I use to pull this off?

    To be more detailed, the original bb.cpk file is 453 MB. I unpacked it with QuickBMS, because the CRI File Packer, while it can read the CPK, claims it as an invalid file when I try to extract it. When I repack it using the File Packer, it always comes down to 399 MB compressed. I tried using this file anyway, but the game just gets stuck on the opening loading screen.

    You must be not extracting all of the files from the CPK if it's crashing. The settings in the CRI Packed File Maker don't need to be changed from default, and you can turn off compression to build the CPK faster.

    I don't find it weird at all.
    They're obviously not going to be building these XML files by hand. Whatever tool they wrote to output the files probably doesn't know or care which properties are used and when.

    Interesting that most of these problems could be fixed with the removal of the auto-launchers and tweaking of level geometry. Though really, I don't actually mind.

    That being said...I'm probably not the only one waiting for Xalse's SonicGDK to be used for something awesome.

    They are set to different speeds that work perfectly for modern Sonic to go off the ramps and hit the area they are meant to launch classic Sonic to. It isn't the tool doing this. They did it on purpose for some reason.

    Would it not be possible to tweak the level geometry for those ramps to aim where they should, though?

    Is there a way to remove the ignored controls when you hit a spring from either direction? it's one thing I really hate in the demo, hitting a side on spring and not being able to do jack until you go up the wall and launch to where they want you to go.

    A spring does reset your horizontal movement, but when you get your movement back is determined by the individual spring. After you come out of of the first two S-tunnels and shoot towards the rings in the air, there's a rep spring on a floating platform. Hitting the spring does reset your horizontal movement as per usual, but you have your left and right control straight away.

    I can technically remove the control lock on the springs, but if I do, the spring over the bottomless pit near the beginning kill you because the game lets Sonic fall out of the spring too soon.

    Well thanks Jim for more or less confirming my suspicions that the only thing holding this game together was auto launchers/scripted events.

    Sad, really, tweaking the ramps to make sure the player reaches where he wants to go shouldn't be that difficult, are they that pressed for time? Or did they just not want people constantly flying off into pits? I suspect the latter. Ah well.

    At least it's nice to see we can fuck around with the game, no doubt Retro'll come up with some really cool shit down the road for the PC version. Annnd I suppose as long as the game is filled with multiple routes and such, it might not bother me as much to know that the game is still playing itself in some sections.

    ..well, as much, anyway.

    It's really nothing, it starts off with him dicking around with the electric shield then going to some,,, strange video involving some shirtless guy in a pig mask dancing with the background song being that "I'm too sexy for my shirt" song

    Alright guys, I decided to make a good mod to fix the huge plotholes in both Sonic Battle, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl. His arms seem to be too strong in those games for all the running that Sonic does, so I made a mod that fixes this and makes the storylines of these games make much more sense.
