Side note: I like how, in Super Sonic, if you get hit just once before getting 50 rings on Planet Wisp act 1 and you burn up what little boost you have, the level is impossible to beat.

Nope. You can beat it in Super Sonic mode without using Super Sonic at all. Hint: Walljump.

Where? All I can find is the path you slide under by the spring (which is technically going backwards), the small hole where the Spikes Wisp is, and the place where batbots are. I couldn't really find another path since Wisp use it forbidden.

So, I've had Sonic Colours, and been playing it, for a week now. I think I'm ready to place it on my "favourite Sonic games" list:

1. Sonic 3 & Knuckles
2. Sonic Colours (Wii)
3. Sonic CD
4. Who cares? Those three are on a different tier.

This game is fantastic. The environments are varied, and all have surreal aspects to them. The music is some of the best I've ever heard. The story is well-written, well-voiced, and all-round well. The gameplay is truly Sonic Colours as I imagined it. But despite how awesomely high I rate this game, I still have a few complaints:

1.

Stop this shit.

I don't want to run in a straight line for ten minutes occasionally moving left and right to avoid lasers. It's boring. So is the Inceptor. I liked Racing Motobugs in the one Asteroid Coaster act dedicated to them, as it served as a nice pace-breaker from the other acts, and was very short. Would've been nice if they'd stayed in that one act, though. Would've been better if there'd been a full level there instead.

For this reason, I don't like Terminal Velocity Act 1 - it's a full level of laser and Interceptor dodging. This may seem like a contradiction to that above, but this has two main differences. Interceptor dodging isn't as cool as Racing Motobugs, and the level was a hell of a lot longer.

Terminal Velocity Act 2 was different, though; it's almost just a playable cutscene, and kinda reminds me of such things as being able to control and hit Robotnik at the end of the original Sonic the Hedgehog. It fits perfectly into the level, and story, as it is. Also, it's short.

2.

There are these fantastic environments, full of hills and valleys and general flow. Why, then, does the platforming look like this?

Remember, SEGA, Sonic levels are like women: better with curves.

Also, some more 3D platforming wouldn't go amiss either.

3. Remember this?

Yeah. This is how you do 2-player. Sonic Colours' 2-player mode is better than none at all, but split-screen is greatly preferred. It'd be nice to play REAL levels 2-player too, rather than just Sonic Simulator stages.

4. Less autoplay. I understand that almost all Sonic games have moments where the game plays itself, but this has a few too many. I'd like if they were kept to about 20 seconds MAXIMUM per ZONE (ie about 4 seconds an Act, on average). There's only one time I've been truly accepting of a long autoplay moment in this game...

... because it was awesome.

5. Stop reusing bosses. The first three bosses are awesome. The second three bosses would be awesome were it not for the fact that they're the same three bosses.

... And that's about it. Everything else I'm pleased about, or at least not bothered. That's my two cents, and now I'm going to go home and play it again.

Hit the spring. Walljump up the section the spring leads you to.

On bosses, aside from recycling bosses (I liked Asteroid Coaster's version of the blimp far more than the one we fight Starlight Carnival,) I wish that the final boss had a second form that used the full second theme, as someone mentioned earlier in the topic. Ideally, when the announcer goes "Unlimited Colors!", it'd be neat if Sonic gained a Hyper Sonic-like state. By that, I mean that he looks like Hyper Sonic, but doesn't quite have invulnerability and has unique abilities. This is a rough plan, so general fight style and boss actions are non-existent, but it'd have been a hell of a way to cap off the boss.

Just like with Brawl, you can download savedata and copy it to your Wii. You just can't move the data you make.

But how do these savestates appear in the first place? If not from other WIIs?

People with modded Wii's rip the file off the NAND and upload it to the internet. It's pretty easy to do. I got all my Wii saves backed up on my computer, should something ever go wrong with my system.

If you jump up into the bots, you'll chain them all up and can proceed from up there.

Since it snowed today and I couldn't go anywhere because of that, I got a free day off and just used the morning to unlock Super Sonic.

It's awexome, but so unfair that it's so hard to get S ranks with him, since that's really all there's left to do (that and trying to top the leaderboards, but that's difficult and annoying to upload your scores, and hackers will probably take them over soon like every other game).

Also, I have a question. What's challenge mode for? I tried it once but when I realized it's every act in a row I decided I'd do it later since it was getting late. Does it serve a purpose other than just saving you time between acts?

I hastily made one that is completely unorganized shortly after the ROM hit the 'nets. Want it?

It allows you to play every stage in the main game (45 of them) in order, with cumulative score, rings(!), boost, and overall time. Also, you get a score leaderboard there as well. No Super Sonic, though.

I'm sorry to ask this, but speaking of music, does anyone have that link to all the Sonic Colors Wii music, but organized by names and such? I meant to get it earlier, but I lost the page. I got that early one with all those...weird names and numbers.

Also, does anyone think that the Red Game Land's...redness is a bit...glaring? It was probably just because my television is set to bright, but man, I couldn't hardly see in that place. Screwed me over many times.

Download (not named by me btw, Zero-Boom named it)

Also I got the game. I really like it so far. There are a few stages which I don't really like, but overall it's a really great game.

OK, so I've been in London all day on business but apparently Argos called up - Dad had to speak to them and pretend to be me due to the Data Protection Act but now they're telling ME about this whole "send your games back and we'll send you the games back with figures" thing.

Why not just, you know, SEND ME THE FUCKING FIGURES, Argos?! I'm going to have to call them at lunch tomorrow as I'm occupied all weekend - and to top it off, they didn't mention my second order at all. That's going to be fucking rectified, I tell you what.

You're definitely gonna need to call them back about it, because that's not right. I got a call from them myself yesterday - they told me that "the figure was never sent out to you as the stock didn't get delivered to us on time". They then reserved a figure in my local Argos free of charge, which I went and collected today (they offered me a £15 voucher as an alternative, but obviously I chose to get my figure). You should ask them to do that for you, too. If they do reserve one for you, make sure you take your reservation number to customer services rather than the normal paying area - I was waiting in the normal queue for 15 minutes only to be told "oh, sorry, you need to take that to customer services to be authorised", what a complete waste of time.

Thank you.

Oh...and this is something a friend of mine just found out about the final boss. I dunno if this has been mentioned before, but...Apparently, the Final Color/Prism Blaster is a homage to Kamen Rider W/Double. At least, the Japanese version. Here's a video to prove it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9BFkv5DYLU

Oh, and read the description too.

@ Jay T. : For me, that's on the borderline between awesome coincidence and obscure reference. That's pretty cool regardless though.
