So the answer to the posts were all Sonic 3. And even since the beginning, certain fans like to poop on other people's fun. (You know who you are emot-ssh.gif )

My thoughts: the fanbase is ridden with the good, the bad, and the ugly—fans, elitists, and trolls. Just ignore elitist Sonic fans and let new fans replace them...even if the elitists have a degree in Sonic physics.

*sigh* It's really a shame... I'm very guilty of proclaiming Sonic 4's mediocrity, and it's too bad a lot of us have to be as pessimistic as we are. A lot of it I'm sure has to do with the fact we've been shafted for over a decade by a team that doesn't seem to put the effort in, whether it be because they're rushed, or other internal issues.

Unfortunately, the damage has been done and I don't feel there's any way to re-unite all of these splinters of the fandom (if they were ever united to begin with), even if there was a unanimously good game to come out. At this point, though, I don't think it really matters in the end-- we are speaking on forums about anthropomorphic blue hedgehogs after all-- and individual passions aren't necessarily wrong.

Though I think we can all agree that Sega needs to up their game next time; it'll take a lot more than two okay-ly received games to make Sonic respectable again.

And that's where Sonic 4 ep. 2 and the 20th anniversary game come in smile.png

Had Sonic 4 been announced instead of Xtreme in the first place, I think it would have been made for the Sega Saturn. This is how I view Sonic 4 as a whole: our long lost Saturn title. Although as of right now I can't officially say as much with the music and all: the musical style would have been MUCH different.

I have an idea: give Sonic the Conker's Bad Fur Day treatment that parodies the franchise and our fandom. (Pass this idea on to Platinum games, RubyEclipse!)

After the prologue of Episode 1, the bar has definitely been raised. I wouldn't mind seeing Episode 2 having the same amount of levels as Sonic 1, much more Sonic CD. The max I could go for is eight zones. Speaking of Episode 2...can you give us any word on whether we'll get new never-seen-before badniks, as well as 50% more original level art, RubyEclipse?

He can't tell us anything that hasn't been officially announced by SEGA.

I'm in if they had the things that made Michael Jackson's music, y'know the synthesisers, instruments, samples etc. I think some of his songs, provided with permission should be recycled and used in Sonic 4: Episode 2 like Beautiful Girl (Demo) should be the credit music.

Hey, a guy can dream can't he v.png

I'd think that they need a different design that represents his classic side more than the official model of Sonic, like try to add some fat on sonic's belly, shortening his height abit, changing various shapes to look retro while keeping the official artwork of SA-style intact and keeping a greenish black eye hybrite in there for good measure.

But I'm keeping my eye on this, the previous sequel was not bad and a great form to it's begginings but it left alot to be desired, style and execution-wise.

I would love it if Episode 2 made a parody of the whole Sonic 2 CD fiasco.

I just realized something.

If Senoue couldn't find Genesis music equipment, couldn't he just find a guy who knew how to use a tracker?

Seems to me that for someone fluent in Japanese and familiar with professional mixing/mastering equipment that VOPM would be the only choice.

I know I have already stated this, but Sonic 4 could have and should have had this kind of music:

I have no idea how the fuck Sega managed to make that horrible music for Sonic Rush that we have today. Then again, this was my turning point in the franchise specialed.png

People say there's no such thing as a wrong opinion. You just proved all of them wrong.

Yeah, sorry, but Hideki Naganuma's soundtrack is sex.

I mean, I guess if you hate it, that's fine... I mean, not really, since pretty much everyone loves Jet Set Radio's music and Rush is more of that... but whatever.

Actually, that'd be pretty awesome for Sonic 4's music. I love me some Naganuma, so. Hell, have Naganuma sample Takenobu Mitsuyoshi. It will be aural excellence.

I think LevelSelect should be made a regular member just for this Styx reference.

What level are going to beat with the jump button next? A Lost Labyrinth level?

While it's kind of sad that you can beat the level by using one button, I don't think it's anything to get worked up over. This is like completing a MegaMan X level with using the dash the entire time. Sure you could MAYBE KINDA SORTA make it through the level that way but...why? And even more baffling is why you'd take away from the game for that.

...holy shit, I just defended Sonic 4. Uh oh, better save face, uh uh uh uh PHYSICS. argh.gif argh.gif

Also Sonic Rush's music was beast.

My tastes > your tastes, etc, etc...
