Sonic Arcus 2D A new fangame.

Hello! This is my first post to this large large community. Let's get straight to it.

Sonic Arcus 2D is a WIP fangame/fanproject being developed by 06hypersonic60, otherwise known as Ala Chebbi. It is made in unity and by the end of development plans to let people easily craft their own sonic game, as well as giving people some zones to test out if they're not into making their own thing. It will feature many characters such as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and more. Special and bonus stages are also planned, but may not be present in the next update.

Current zones are Green Hill, Ice Cap, Dust Hill Dazzle (Custom zone), Hydrocity, Angel Island, and more original later. (Please note none of these are 100%, anything could change, but as of now that is the list.)
You may visit the game here, though the download link has been removed for the time being.

I work on the graphics for the game. We also have Dolphman there to help and make improvements. I appreciate your good intentions and sentiment dude but what the fuck is with removing the download link? Either the game's ready to be released or it's not.

That just mystifies me. Outside of that you seem to have produced some good work and I look forward to seeing more. Get your download link sorted.

The download link was removed due to Sonic Mania's workers being upset with people releasing fangames that attempt to copy mania's gameplay and stuff. Since the download contained mania sprites and the dropdash, it was removed. Do not worry though, in the next update which hopefully is very soon it will be back up with no mania related stuff to ride with Sage's rules which I have been told doesn't allow mania-y fangames.

Ah okay that makes ALOT more sense. Okay cool. And you're more than welcome. I'm always supportive of promising looking fangames and yours looks good!

My advice would be try to get a demo build you're able to release finished up soon, since you've started a thread here and everything. Look forward to playing it.

Ala's currently working on Angel Island. I think after the first act of that he'll release it.

I also forgot to mention the game works on mobile in the next update, so that's a thing it does.

Seems odd that they'd be upset for someone using the drop dash, but w/e

Yep. The boss, the HUD, the music. A lot of it was Mania. Infact most if not all YTers have titled it "Sonic Arcus Mania"

I should mention the dropdash wasn't the same as mania's. We got it wrong. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sonic Arcus branched out this far? I remember way back when this was still a Blitz Sonic project years ago!
Question: Is this a branch of Sonic Arcus 3D fine tuned for 2D, or is it an entirely separate project sharing the same namesake?

Seperate things. Sonic Arcus 3D is on hiatus as Ala's quite busy.

So is this more of a tool to allow people to easily make classic-style games, than a game itself? Sounds very interesting.

In respect to the developers (and because this is the first Sonic game with easy to rip and use assets since the Sonic Advance days,) SAGE and the partners that run it aren't allowing entries containing any Sonic Mania assets like music or sprites, which this game is loaded with.

The irony of your post is that the drop dash is allowed since it's more than a mere rip to get it to work.
