*breaks out harmonica* Dimps are like those bumbling henchmen in old school cartoons, they fuck up again and again and again and will continue to do so in the future... yet the boss always uses them.
The Time Eater battle on the 3DS looks so much better than the clusterfuck we got on the console version.
My God, fuck Dimps for designing the classic levels around homing attack. There goes my possible excitement for episode 2 and their potential redemption. Sonic 4, which should have been one of the most important games in the series, will be shit all over by a lazy company that has lost its sense of creativity. EDIT: But hey at least they remembered that springs are solid objects that Sonic can push up against without going SPOING
I really didn't have my hopes very up with this game to begin with, but with what we have so far for 3DS, I will get it. Truthfully I rather "complain" about Dimps's level design while I'm really playing the level and see how I fare off. Maybe the remixed music and the thrill of double tapping as classic will make me forget the whole thing. Welp, it actually feels like I'm playing the inevitable sequel now. It does look neat when he uses it.
To design a game around homing attack and badnik chains once may seem to be a mistake. To do it AGAIN after all the uproar of the first time is frankly just taking the piss. So yeah, fuck Dimps! Then again, the console versions weren't exactly great either.... GOOD though, but having said that I've already lost the desire to play the game again. The way we're going, I can't see us celebrating Sonic's 25th/30th anniversary releases... because they probably won't happen.
Doesn't it completely defeat the purpose of having two Sonics if they can both use the homing attack? I mean this literally means the only difference between the two is a boost button. And they could get around that by putting loads of speed boosters in the game. Which they probably have.
The only thing DIMPS did better than Sonic Team was the way they handled Time Eater. It looked so much more badass when Modern Super Sonic was quick-stepping (flying) through clockwork gears and flying arms, and it actually looked like a dynamic and enjoyable experience compared to the half-baked Time Eater we got in the HD version. Still prefer the HD version though. I would have only got the 3DS version if it was compatible with normal DSi's. Also, Black Squirrel, Modern Sonic has stomp and completely broken physics as well, as opposed to half baked physics.
What the fuck, homing attack in MY classic levels? Fuck that shit. I'll keep my money, Dimps. Seriously, what were they thinking? Might just be the low sound quality from the camera-recorded video, but most of those tracks don't even sound remixed. For shame.
My hope for this game is that it can be a compare and contrast episode; Everyone can see what Sonic Team can do and how it is better. Thus illuminated in a stark light, SEGA could some day realize that something is wrong and change how they handle the portable games from now on. Maybe Dimps isn't bad by itself. Maybe they just haven't reigned them in. Whatever the case, Sonic Generations 3DS is some mutant fusion of the barren boost zones of Sonic Rush and the 'fake' 'classic' disappointing hijinks of Sonic "4." Makes sense, though. I didn't expect them to radically change how they made "classic" Sonic games—that would equate to Dimps turning against what they did in Episode 1. Dimps is gonna stick with what it made... good or bad.
>These videos Not even worth a rental. Music is shit too. + - But it will still get higher review scores than the console versions.
I'm amazed at the fact that Sega decides to break in a new console with 14 straight acts of Straight Line Zone. What made them think this was "good enough"? Whole thing needs to be scrapped.
Man, the whole design of this portable version is just all "WTF?", its like they have missed any and all point concerning the difference in generations (so to speak) I don't think I can add anything to the moans already voiced, Just looks really lackluster, I can't even get worked up about it =/
Herp, just checked the CDJapan entry for the Generations soundtrack and it will have the PS360 and the 3DS soundtracks on it. Shows what I know.
