Dixons Digital Download Centre launched recently, and to celebrate they are giving away free SEGA PC games to the first 10,000 people that grab it. The first SEGA pack (which has the best games) is sold out, but the second pack, which includes Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, isn't. The rest of the pack includes ports of old SEGA games everyone's already played before.

You can get it here: http://dixonsdownloads.co.uk/campaign/launch/

EDIT: Just started downloading it, why the hell is it using Mbit/s?

Wow that's actually rather awesome, thanks for the heads up

I hope this will work when I transfer it to the new computer I get tomorrow (I'll download the exe now just in case)

Not where I want to be.
Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
I'm resisting the urge to get this on principal alone. I have it for Wii already.

You can also download it later on, the game will stay on your account.

Thanks for the heads up, my brother sold the PS3 version of the game a while ago and I was interested in playing it again, this sure beats illegally downloading the game.

Just FYI- non-UK residents getting this via a proxy is no more legal than torrenting it, most likely. ToS probably has the typical provisions against it.

So- if you really believe the IT IS LAW AND LAW IS TO FOLLOW bullshit, don't bother.

Mind you, still both free and legal for UK residents.

Wonder if this version still has the SecuROM...

    edit:

Hilarious to see places like GAF with massive sticks up their asses about piracy ignoring that!

I love the way they're giving you Sonic 1 twice.

I love how I gave it the right address and everything and it was trying to tell me my IP address is not in the same location so supposedly it is invalid.

Oh well. Better luck next time!

Wow, thanks for this. This is really awesome.

I was wondering though, do they also provide the serials and what not? I was curious if it was possible to take the key and add it to a Steam account or something.

Other question still applies. This SecuROM'd? It'd be nice to know if there's an official DRM-free version of the game.

    MIDI-to-SMPS-conversions, mostly. Takin' requests, too.
Wait, how can free download be sold out? :psyduck:

They're allowing a limited number of new members to get the games for free.

Thanks for the link! My little brothers use their laptop a lot so it'll be nice to see them trying out some old-school games.

Currently I've managed to get Sonic 1 and 2 installed. The Collection is crawling along at a snail's pace, though.

Stupid thing uses a down loader to install the game as it's downloading. If anyone knows anything about '.Zit' files, they can be found along with the torrent files(WHY?) in: "C:\Users\(USERNAME)\AppData\Local\Temp" (Windows 7)

.Zit files will not open with 7Zip but I did see this on Google . Dunno if it's any use or if anyone's actually bothered...I know I am. I don't want to download over 4 GB again, if it can be backed up to DVD-r, outside of the .Zit files
