Who would YOU get to do the music for Sonic 4?

Seconded. This is exactly who SHOULDN'T do the soundtrack for Sonic 4.

Whoever it was that mentioned Daft Punk has kind of got me obsessed with them now. They sure as hell wouldn't work for Sonic 4, but for any other Sonic outing, sure, I'm game. Sorry, Ross. My first non-Hataya pick would have to be Soichi Terada, not for being appropriate for the series or anything, but because I love Soichi Terada, of course. He's also the guy who does the music for the Ape Escape games.

However, I do believe Cock and Ball Torture would be best suited to whatever Sonic Team insists on putting out. I mean, let's not beat around the bush or anything, right?

 

The only OCR'er who I'd be happy with doing it would be Gecko Yamori, since he's a Hataya nut just like the rest of us

As for anyone else from there who's currently "popular", no way. I hate their style these days. Production quality is not more important than musical material.

Who did the Sonic CD music? I did like a few of the songs.

 

I am not sure why people would mention Michael Jackson, other than the fact that he is no longer with us, is that if it wasnt because of child molestation allegations, the other supposed reason he wasnt credited was because he didnt like the sound the genesis gave out then, why would he do it now if Sonic 4 is supposed to have genesis style music? it would be the same song and dance, and I cant speak for him, but he would most likely say no because if he were still alive he would be too busy dancing in the O2 arena, and that he didnt like the restrictions of the genesis's sound hardware.

This is a fun thread to read into...

It sounds like no matter who we announce, someone will be angry, and someone will be quite happy. But then, that's the way almost everything with Sonic works, right?

I will say that you guys should listen to the music first (when we actually start showing off high quality tracks, etc), and base your judgments off that. Check out the composer afterwards, and then quickly decide whether you love it even more now or are going to eternally dislike it then.

Personally, I think some of the music is fantastic. The lack of guitar riffs and the slightly more oldschool feel do a lot to promote the atmosphere of the game.

 

And thus, SEGA has got one step closer to understanding their fanbase!
