Wario Land vs Sonic

    Watch this and tell me that you don't wish that a 2d Sonic game looked this good

    Indeed it is the new wario game but you can't help but draw the similarities between it and a classic Sonic casino/carnival level, especially with Wario running fast, fluidly and overall, imo, just looks like fun.

    I could only dream of a Sonic game of this standard and full fitted out to the levels of an actual sonic game instead of pseudo comparasions like I'm drawing now.

    lol I wouldn't be surprised if this reignited the old "sega should give sonic to nintendo" debate.

    Anyways, I just thought I'd throw this up there, see what you guys think.

    Ah its not much that im clutching at. Its merely that by watching that clip, seeing the casino level design, and since he is running at top speed for the majority of the clip and hitting that ramp at the end which is somewhat unusual for a wario/mario game, just kinda irks out the "this would be great if it was sonic instead" feel. Im not saying anything really just when I saw it, thought it felt really sonic'y and wondered if others felt the same

    Obv the game is wario and its all playing by that games mechanics, I'm just thinking, from those few things, mentally blow it up to a level where its proper potential Sonic game of that style. it would be good no doubt imo.

    I see the style Sega should take making new Sonic games. See Sega? It still works in 2d, fuckers.

    I agree. I personally am still waiting to play a game that fulfills like the promise of Sonic CD's cutscenes. If you look at the trailers for this game, between the professionally done animation work and interesting gimmicks, this is pretty much exactly the kind of thing what I would want in a 2d Sonic game.

    I can see what you mean, when Wario started running fast I could take that games concept and see Sonic in it. 2D games have been mostly forgotten in a world were crappy licensed games outsell some of the great games. I just hope Sega wakes up soon, 2D works damn it!

    Since we've already determined that there's no relation to Sonic in this besides being 2D, is this thread really any more besides an "I wish Sonic was still in 2D" thread?

    I see that Nintendo is competent with 2D slower-platformer style action.

    However, if he were to move at Sonic speed, you'd probably switch back to complaining, because he'd have to stop too much and it'd be choppy action at best; like some Sonic Rush Adventure stages.

    'Sides, Sonic Advance series didn't do too bad at the 2D thing.

    What's so great about that video? Sloppy cartoony graphics and stupid pauses between level "sections". Wow yeah, that would be great in a new Sonic 2D game, fade outs between parts of the level...

    If I had a Wii, I'd get that game. But I don't. ANd don't hold your breathe about 2D. There won't be another 2D Sonic, until SEGA is on their last leg, and is forced to sell their assets to a company who gives a shit about their fans.
