As for DDP, Progressive Boink made a great page a while back.

I actually did "Beat" It, on Super mario allstars.. And why I say "Beat", I mean, I did get past World 8, THEN after that, you go on, and on, and currently, I'm still at world A-2. :P

 

They changed it because it would simply be too hard for the American audience, and they were right. Doki Doki Panic was made by the same guy (cant be arsed to spell his name), and so they modified it and released it as Mario Bros. 2.

 

Then I really must have the god like gaming skills I tell people I have, because I've beaten it multiple times, original and remake, as Mario and Luigi, and both with and without warp zones (meaning I've gone through World 9 quite a bit).

 

I would fucking kill for the "Toejam and Earl 2" prototype.

 

Im not trying to rain on anyone's parade or anything but IM just curious, why does the SMB2 prototype have different levels and music when the released game is the same as Doki Doki Panic (sans like a boss and a few graphics)

did they change it and then change it back? O_o

 

Doki Doki Panic does have several major different music changes- IIRC, the SubSpace and Invincibility are completely different, and other tracks like the character select and I think the main theme were given extended sections for SMB2.

 

music.. yeah, I forgot about the different star music.. the subspace was different?... christ I didn't even notice XD... but did it have different levels? I know DDP had a third mouser, but I thougt that was the only major difference... and that is NOT worth $20,000 to me O_o;;

you know I can get through Mario 2 USA playing with Toad the whole way without dying once (or at least I USED to be able too, haven't tried it lately) but when I tried it with DDP with the Toad character... I had a lot of problems (possibly because you can't run in that game)

 

I keep reading DDP as Dodonpachi.

SMB2's subspace music is the main theme from SMB1... No real level changes as far as I know, though, and even if there were, we'd have them in DDP anyway, it'd be easier to hack Mario characters and a run into DDP than what it'd take to earn $20,000+ for a proto...

 

Yeah, I hate it when people horde their stuff for no reason. Hasn't anyone told them that capitalism doesn't work that way anymore?

As for saying SMB2 was rly hard, it is, but that doesn't mean I can't beat it. :P Practice practice. And I actually beat it on Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, on gameboy, with the shit small screen.

Sadly that version doesn't have the levels past 8

I'll have to play levels 9 through D one day...

Also, are there any prototype FDS games?

That GB version is totally different than the original. It has SMB controls. The controls are worst in the original SMB2.
