https://twitter.com/SXSWGaming/status/1092528674929328128 So what could this be? SXSW usually host a Sonic panel with Iizuka and co. every year. It's been an annual thing since 2016. So guess this is the overdue announcement of this year's Sonic panel? Other guesses could be something to do with the movie or just an outright drop of a game announcement. We'll see soon. Personally I'm hoping it's the panel. We had some amazing news last year (Mania Plus and Adventures). Either that or just the announcement we all want - a successor to Mania. ResetEra thread and further reading here. Speculate away everyone. Good thing we only have to wait 24 or hours so for this one.
The likely is the full scoop on TSR. Some more merch for the Sega Shop, too. The movie is a dangerous proposition to follow up Mania Plus and Mania Adventures. But, I suppose they have to put a trailer up at some point. A left field announcement would be a Colors or Unleashed port, more Mania Adventures, or a Mania 2. I mean like in the outfield of the little league 5 miles away levels of infinitesimally small chance.
I think at this point more Sonic Mania Adventures should be a no brainer. Honestly though I'm not expecting a new game since that would take away Team Sonic Racing's thunder. But I can definitely see the movie making an appearance, maybe that's what the feedback meeting was about?
I really really really want it to be a new sonic mania but i really don't think they are making a new one...
Oh great, another Sonic SXSW panel. I can't wait for the Sonic PR group to talk about the next new Sonic project in development and then have virtually nothing of substance to show for it, just like they did with the last two SXSW panels...they've become yet another example just how crappy the franchise's marketing has become. I really wish these guys would stop hosting and hyping up events which literally amount to little more than "announcement of announcements". -___-
I'm expecting a bit of news about TSR; hopefully a new trailer and other assorted details of there's anything to add. We might see something about the film, but the impression that I've gotten about the film so far is that SEGA are handing it of to Paramount as much as possible and are sort of keeping their distance. Not really expecting anything major.
Well one thing is that it's SXSW Gaming specifically meaning it's definitely video game related as opposed to film which rules out the movie. TailsChannel did some digging found out that Iizuka, Aaron and Jasmine are listed in the SXSW database as speakers meaning this is likely the announcement of the SXSW panel for this year. Strange thing is last year they just issued a press release beforehand. No hype or build-up. Just announced their presence like all the other attendees. So this is the first time they've been like "engage your hype thrusters" hyping up the panel beforehand inferring we could be due for some big announcements this year hence the fanfare. That said we'll find out what's going on tonight when the announcement drops. Not long now.
Jasmine works specifically on animation last check. Before Mania Adventures she was hyping Boom. I wonder if she'll have more to say other than "Thanks for tens of millions of views!" I hope the movie doesn't have to fall on her alone.
Sonic panel at SXSW 2019 announced: https://gaming.sxsw.com/news/2019/discovery-stage-lineup-announced-for-2019/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=socialmedia&utm_campaign=gaming2019&utm_content=gaming
They haven't said whether this years panel will be streamed. Although, they did stream last years, so I imagine they will again this year.
Oh I read this totally wrong I thought they were implying that the panel was today, but it's in March. I see now. Ok back to waiting then lol. Good ol announcements of announcements.
Jun Senoue? Sonic Adventure Remake confirmed. :v: In all seriousness looks like multiple game announcements like last year. Start the hype engines.
I also got mistaken the same way. Now I understand why people were wondering why SEGA was kind of hyping this event when it didn't do so in previous years.
